I tried running hpiscnapp like scandroid suggested and it fails every time. Any other suggestions? When I click on details I see the following:

I wish I had an answer for this...  Are you running with Administrator priviledges, or are you running as a typical user?

Hi scandroid,

 

Thanks for trying to help. I am running as an administrator. For now I am scanning as TIFF using the built-in fax and scan, then I print to PDF. It's a pain but it will work temporarily.

Sorry, it has taken me so long to get back to this thread on this.

 

When I run the application directly and make sure that all the directories exist, it works.  If I try to launch the application from the Solution Center, it will give the appearance of working, but will not save a file.

Can you describe what you were trying to do when hpiscnapp crashed.  Were you doing a preview scan, saving a file, or making some kind of image adjustments?

Hi scandroid,

 

When I launch hpiscnapp.exe directly it crashes immediately. When I launch HP Solution Center I get prompted for scan parameters and then it gets stuck after showing the HP Scanning graphic.

Hi scandroid

 

I uninstalled all the HP software, disconnected the USB cable, restarted the computer and reinstalled the HP software. Now it is working fine. Thanks for your help.

I am having the same problem usin Win 7 x64. and trying to scan pictures of OCR. They wont save. Ive tried chaning the destination file. completely uninstalling and reinstalling. no change

I am seeing the same problem with a Officejet 7410xi and windows 7 32bit.

 

I have installed and uninstalled the solution center and the printer several times. I have tried both a USB install and a Network install with the same resut ie everything works until you "finish" and then nothing happens. I have tried multiple scan formats ie picture, document, etc... I have tried shutting down virius and firewalls as well. I have installed the printer during install of solution center and afterward with the same result. I have not had the network cable and USB connected at the same time.

 

Any Ideas?

Hi

I received this email from HP this morning, and it works:

 

 In order to resolve the scanning issue, let us perform following steps :

* Click the link below:

ftp://noscnfil:update2@hprc.external.hp.com/

* At the bottom of this window, click the link for "hpqxmlul.dll"

* In the file download window, click Save.

* Save the file on desktop.

* Once the downlaod is complete, return to Desktop and right-clilck on the file "hpqxmlul.dll" and click "Copy".

* Open Computer (Windows 7) .

* Go to the location C:\Program Files\HP \Digital Imaging\bin.

* Right-click on an open space and click Paste. If you get an option to replace the existing file, click on OK.

* Restart the PC and try scanning.

Check results.
