b-209 a-m photosmart printer/copier/scanner does not print

Power connection fine.  Sounds like it is working; parts are moving (e.g. scanner) but when it gets ready to print, it first spits out a blank page and then makes some sounds like it is setting up to print, and spits out another blank page.

 

Connected to Dell computer with XP operating system.
