how do I make 2-sided copies on HP J6480

 Used the display panel copy menu and set for 2-sided  to 2 sided option, however when it runs it only scans one side of the original, then pulls the 2nd original, and then makes a two sided copy of these two. NOt what 2 sided copying is supposed to accomplish. Any ideas?
