Hi jpwill,

What model of 6500 printer do you have (E709 or E710)?

Re: hp officejet 6500 will not print black

FIXED FIXED FIXED

Over the past week I have tried everything to get my printer to print black again, I followed every senario on HP website for the problem, I even bought new ink and printhead and still nothing.  Then I read a simple post about a minor software problem that occurs over time and prevents the printer from printing black.  It says to fix the problem to do a partial reset on the printer.  I was sceptical about the directions so I looked it up on HP website and am posting it here for others.

After running the procedure I am back up and running.  Let me state one thing about the directions, it says to release the buttons after the product starts up, but do not let go just because the light comes on, wait until you see the words partial reset and then let go.

Re: hp officejet 6500 will not print black

Thank you very much for your help.  I thought I was going to have to take the printer in for service.  I had replaced the ink cartridge, but still no printing.  Nice to know this Support Forum is available.  Thank you again!

Re: hp officejet 6500 will not print black

Just stopped printing black.  Have tried everything including unplugging and pushing 3 & * together but is a touch pad so I don't think that's even relevant.  Also reset to factory settings on menu.  Cleaned the whole thing, drained the color ink cartridges cleaning, all the steps.  Any other suggestions?  I've never had a problem before, one day working just fine, next day nothing...

Thanks!
