hp photosmart C4280, scanning in pdf?

i have a hp photosmart C4280 printer scanner and I would like to scan in documents as pdf files. When I pull up the scan dialogue box, it only gives me the choice of scanning items in as either BMP. TIF, PNG, or JPG, but not PDF -- any ideas on how I can scan in documents as pdf files?
