j6480 fax to pc not working

I wasn't able to find this posted elsewhere so forgive me if this has been asked and answered.

I have a j6480 officejet setup as wireless network printer.  Printing, faxing, scanning, all that works fine.

However, I just decided to setup the fax to pc function and it will not save the faxes on the pc.

I've made sure the fax to pc is setup correctly in the solution on the pc that I want to save the faxes to.

I've made sure the hp digital imaging monitor is running in the taskbar.

The PC that I want to save the faxes to is running vista.

Anyone else have this issue?  Any help appreciated.

Hello,

In the printer Setup menu ==> Basic Fax Setup ==> Fax to PC, select "Disable FAX Print" and check if it works or not.

Thanks - but unfortunately that did not have any effect on the fax to pc.

Any other ideas?

The Fax to PC tool works only for black and white faxes. The product prints any color faxes you receive, instead of saving them.

You must have the full-feature software and drivers installed to be able to use the Fax to PC tool.
   
The computer that you use to set up Fax to PC and the computer that you want to save the faxes on must be turned on and awake at all times. The faxes do not save if the computer is in the hibernate mode.
   
Make sure that you load paper in the product before you begin, and then make sure that the product does not run out of paper.

Yes I've done all of that but thanks for the info.

I am glad to report that after a power outage here when everything came back up it started working!?!

Now I have rebooted the pc in question several times during and since setup of the fax-to-pc capability.  However, I never thought of turning off the printer and turning it back on.   But magically, as soon as power was restored and the printer and pc were both booted up it started sending all the faxes in memory to the pc.  I also sent a test fax to it and that showed up real time.

Now on to my next problem which is setting up a windows 7 pc with the printer software - I had it all working but then went to print something today and the printer was no longer there.....reinstalled the software and now the scanning software is hanging (scasnner is in use by some other pc it says after about 5 minutes - but that is not true)......
