officejet scanners not found in Win7, but are in XP

My office has two recently purchased Officejet all-in-one printers, one 4500 and one 8500. When installed, both of the printers are visible and functional as printers on all of our computers regardless of operating system (Win7 64 and 32 bit, and XP). However, the scanner aspect of each is only found and functional on the XP platforms but not found at all on any of the Win7 machines. I am lost as to how to get Win7 to recognize the presence of either scanner.  The 4500 is running in wireless mode, the 8500 is hardwired through a computer to the network (shared). This evening I d'loaded the Scanner Diagnostic Utility and will see if that helps tomorrow, but I'm hoping that if there's a different solution someone can clue me in to it.

Thx for any help

Re: officejet scanners not found in Win7, but are in XP

It's fixed, but not with the diagnostic tool. Turns out the person who installed these initially apparently went for the 'minimum' install, not the 'recommended'.  I had to tear out the original install and do the 'recommended'. It doesn't seem that I was able to upgrade the install be adding additional software.  I'm puzzled tho' as it would seem that XP still found the scanner when Win7 couldn't (unless the installer did a complete on that machine to begin with).
