My C4280 prints really fast but when I photocopy it is REALLY slow. I have adjusted the quality settings on the machine and via the settings on my PC but it makes no difference. Why won't it print a photocopy as fast as it prints a page ffrom my computer? (I'm not talking about the loading time, just the actual page printing)
Can you help?

Hi, can you share what are the copy settings you've set on the printer?

On the actual printer itself I press the "quality" button until it shows just 1 star - normally it seems to have a default to show 2 stars. I use the black copy button and that's about it. I've also gone into the settings on the computer and I've selected the lowest quality - can't remember what it's called (radft, or normal or something) and I've tried doing it as text only as well as picture andd both but nothing makes any difference to the speed. I've tried to copy by usingn the buttons on the printer and I've done it with commands from the computer but makes no difference. Normal printing I have set it to defaul to "fast draft" but I often change it to normal or even best and it stilll comes out much faster than a photocopy does. I have a Dell PC Inspiron 1720 running Vista

Thanks for getting back. It's not clear if the printer behaved like this originally or has it worked well before.
There's this update on hp.com that is intended to improve system responsiveness for printing. You may want to look into it.
If you still have issues, you may want to contact HP

Thanks.
The printer has always been really slow for photocopying.
I'll try the update but every other update I get notified about always fails to install. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the original disc but it doesn't make any difference!

This is very unfortunate & is an undesirable experience for you. As the problem has been there since you purchase the product, & I hope it is still within warranty, please contact HP for assistance. I hope it'll turns out well for you.

No, not in warranty - it's one of those problems that I thought I'd get round to solving.......
I tried contacting HP but they would charge me for any help so I came on here instead.
