printer scan not working with new windows 7 [ Edited ]

upgraded windows xp to windows 7 with new HP Omni 220PC. Have an HP printer C309g-m. In order to scan from the printer to the xp computer, I had to use the HP solutions center. The printer works great with the new windows 7 program and new computer. I installed it wireless. No problems with it. Today when I went to scan a document with the HP Solution Center (which I thought I had to use as before), this message came up.

"HP solution center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Please plug in the usb cable or rerun the installation cd for a network installation. If this does not complete the installation, or you do not have the cd, access the HP help files by clicking the start menu." All of which I did. My installation CD said I had a newer updated version than on the installation CD,so it was of no use. I went to the HP site and  found a download for the updated drivers etc. I downloaded them and installed. (although I don't know if it was a duplicate of the windows 7 device drivers for this or not.) I checked the add/delete programs to make sure the printer and the hp solultion center were added to the programs. they are listed. I still can't scan with

the hp solution center. Do I not need this program to scan with this new pc? How do I do scan from my printer now? I even tried to click scan on the printer, then scan to computer. the message I got was "Try starting scan from compurer. Refer to documentation for details".  To be sure, I am all mixed up now. All I want is for my printer scan to work with my new pc.  Everything is running fine except for this scan thing,  anyone out there can help me understand what to do:?  thanks

all fixed. went through my computer to Start then clicked On HP clicked HP and list opened. Went to my listed printer-Clicked on my printer and clicked icon to see if it was working correctly. It found a problem with the drivers and a box popped up with directions on where and how to download and install the devices for windows 7.
Did that and tested it and all is working fine now. (Ihad already tried the HP site for support and downloaded and installed the suggested fix for the problem, but it did not work. ) anyway, its fixed and I hope if anyone else has a problem, this information will help.

In VISTA there was an HP Assitant logo that I used to do scans from my printer to my computer.  I cannot find this on Windows 7 and my printer is requiring the computer to do this!

The steps for this fix don't make sense to me....went through my computer to start and then clicked on HP?  I can't figure out where user went to see HP except Program files in which case I have not found any icon to click to see if product is working properly.

sorry 1hotyoga....If I remember correctly, I went to Start and clicked on my Control Panel icon When that opened I . Then clicked on Device Manager.

In device manager, I clicked on imaging devices. It showed my HP photosmart printer C309G and I  double clicked on that item, this opened a screen showing  the printer properties, General, Driver, details. I clicked on the Driver tab,clicked on

update driver and it found a problem and directed me to download drivers.  This is the best of my recollection and I hope it helps.....

Okay, thank you.  Unfortunately, there is no update driver option under my driver tab in print server management.  Of course not, that would be too easy.

I have an Officejet L7590 printer which I run from my computer through a router. The printer and copy functions work fine but I cannot scan. The scan worked fine until after an update which occurred after a Windows 7 or other Microsoft update about a week ago.

I have reloaded the driver and tried the suggestions listed but nothing works. I have change usb cables.

The error statement states that "the imaging device was not found" and under extended error, it gives: 8,[(1,0,-2147551496)]
