scanjet 5590P and transparent materials adapter, not changing negatives into pictures

i have a scanjet 5590P and transparent materials adapter hp scanjet tma, it scans the slides but ony gives me a copy of the slide or negative, not convertingthem into pictures ?

using hp  laptop with windows 7
