I can print from my computer to my HPC4280 but I can not scan from it. It says there is no USB cable, but there is. I have a Mac computer and use Windows 7 on a parallel desktop

Hi,
Is the USB directly connected to the Mac? Make sure not to use any usb hub or extension.
Is the problem appears from Mac OS or Windows using Parallels?
If the issue appear on Windows, please try scanning from the Mac and clarify if there is any difference.
Regards,
Shlomi

It is connected to a hub. I will try connecting it directly and using the hub for my wireless mouse instead. "fingers crossed"

I tried that, and no luck. I am using Firefox when I scan and intend to send it in an email. I still get a message that it is not hooked up.
