scanning problem

Officejet Pro 8500A won't scan to computer.  I'm using OSX 10.6.8.  So far I've deleted and reinstalled printer twice and it just won't work.  I've talked with HP support and was told that they don't support Macintosh computers?????Don't get that comment as I was in an Apple store yesterday and they are selling HPs, although not the 8500.

Re: scanning problem

Hello SamO66

What exactly is the problem? Are you able to print, scan, or copy?

Re: scanning problem

I can print and copy, I cannot scan.  Both of those functions work fine, scanning is the problem.  I am wireless if that makes a difference.  My router connects without problems to my laptop and Ipod.  Is that enough information or do you need more?   Thanx for your help.   SamO66

Re: scanning problem

Hello SamO66

Just a little more info. Is there any specific error that occurs when you try to scan or is it a scan quality problem?

Re: scanning problem

The HP touch screen tells me the computer is not connected to the printer, yet the printer workks when I print from the computer.   There seems to be only a one way connection.   Thans  SamO66

Re: scanning problem

Hello SamO66

Try following this article to uninstall the printer. If you have not already I suggest using Method One: Uninstall using the Scrubber.

Uninstalling the Printer Software

Try installing using the following driver. Typically the the "computer not connected" problem is either the full driver was not installed or "Activate Scan to Computer" is not active. If you continue to have the problem after this re-install go to the HP Utility and check Scan to Computer.

Officejet 8500A Software (MAC OS 10.5-10.6)

Re: scanning problem

Hello SamO66

Glad to hear the problem is resolved! :smileyhappy:

I noticed you figured out how to give kudos and marked it as solved. I'm sure this will help anyone else with the same problem. Did you have a different question or was the question how to give kudos?
