  • Clean the scanner.    that's a no brainer and something I knew to do before I posted.  so....did not help at all
  • Clean the automatic document feeder (ADF) rollers.    I have no idea where feeder rollers are , and since this is a flat scanner that I just lay down the picture I want to scan, I'm not sure how rollers have to do with this
  • Change the scan settings.   If only I could.  There are no options for settings
  • Reset the printer.   If only I knew what you mean by 'reset'.  If you mean power cycle, IE power off and back on, of course I did that before I contacted you.  If you mean 'reset' by another means, you will need to be more specific.

so this is not helpful at all

thank you

Thanks for the reply.

I understand that you have extensive knowledge about printer repair.

Hat off to you on that score.

Follow these steps to reset the printer.

  • Remove any items from the scanner glass and automatic document feeder (ADF), then close the scanner lid.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into a wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Load the original document or photo, then try to scan.

Click here and refer step 5 in the document.

I realize this is a lot of things to consider, but I hope it helps,

And if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as a solution accepted and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.
