Battery icon is missing

I run a tx 2000 tablet notebook, with AMD Turion X2 64, and Nvidia graphics.

Lately my computer has not been showing the little battery icon in the corner. There is a little paces where it belongs but no matter what I do it won't come back. I have to leave the Battery check open to know how much power I have so my computer doesn't shut down on me.

I restarted, shut down, left it alone, and even ran the icon restoration program http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945011#FixItForMe . Which only managed to scatter my desktop icons.

Is there another way to fix this?

The icon normally sits between the pen flicks and the internet icon.

Right-click your Taskbar and select Properties option.

Select Notification area tab and ensure that the Power check box is ticked

At first this didn't work,the icon would be greyed out, but a restore point and a restart fixed it right up, thank you.

Thank you so much!!!!!!  I have been looking for this answer for months on and off and tried other ways!  So glad to have found it through HP.  Why didn't I look to you guys before???
