Hello.
I am just unsatisfied with the default broadcom wifi card's performance and would like to exchange it.
I have an Intel 4965AGN card laying around and tried to use it.
All I get is an 104 error, saying the wireless is not supported and asking to remove the device and restart.
Is there a way I can make it work? I understand it may not be "certified" by HP because of some countries laws, but guess what: my country does not have many restrictions and, since I have buyed the notebook, it's mine and I want to use whatever I whant on it.
Sorry if I sound a little rude, but I'm just disgusted with this.

I see you have Broadcom 4322 802.11a/b/g/n, which is on par with Intel 4965AGN, What kind of performance issue are we talking about?
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

It's speed and some key functionalities.
I have an 802.11n router at home and at work. The maximum speed I can get is 58 mbps.
Normally it's set to 5, 8 mbps when I'm about 5m from the router, what did not happen when I was using this card with other notebook.
I also need to use monitor and injection mode on Linux so I can audit the network myself.
Broadcom has a closed source driver that does not support packet injection and I could not make kismet nor aircrack work with it.
By the way I'm not trying to take advantage of my work network, since I'm from the TI staff.

OK, lets looks at the Speed side of it first...Below is the change you will have to make to connect at 300 Mbps speed...Again, this is setup done with N-2.4GHz which Channel Width Set to Auto in the router....

Tried this this solution at home, got a bit better, but cannot past 58MB.
This applies only to Windows, is there a way I can do this in Linux? Maybe a modprobe option?
I have been using Linux most of the time.
Maybe this can be sort of antenna problem?
This is one of the reasons I was testing with other wifi card.

I give up!!
First of all, merry christmans to everybody!
This don't seem to be a technical problem anymore, it seens to be a JURIDICAL problem.
I have bought this notebook. I payed for it. It's mine!!
Being mine, means I can do whatever I want with it!!
Even use different hardware or software if I want.
HP is restricting my freedom it is trying to put me on a JAIL!!
What if you buy a new car and con only install a stereo that's sold by the same brand of the car?
Or worse, it comes with a stereo that doesn't work as you want or as it should work??
It's simply ABUSIVE!!
Instead of asking for a solution to a technician, I'll find a lawyer and see what can be done.
Many thanks to who at least tried to help.

Found it!!!
I have found a way to remove the hardware restriction.
I have posted here before, but it was kindly removed by the moderator.
If someone needs it, send me a private message and i'll happily send the links.
The site i have found it has mods for lots of notebooks, buit it may void warranty.
