Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

Finally someone just tried it and isn't assuming that the tx1000 problems are identical to the tx2000.  Thank you!  So many people would deal with less problems with this if they'd just try it.  But I think people would rather just be mad at HP than attempt to fix their problem.

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

Hi All,

I had the exact same problem when turning on my tx1001au, the lights would go on fans would spin, but no screen activity.

This might sound crazy, no need to open up laptop, just follow directions below WORKED for ME. Its now been working for over a week with no problems, but i have purchased a targus laptop cooler fan to keep my lappie cool.

take out hard disk drive. So as not to damage it from the exess heat buildup.

turn on laptop,

place in laptop carry bag and zip up to get heat buildup. (i did mine on a cool night so i did this for an hour) half an hour in most cases should be sufficient

take laptop out of carry bag. turn off. press down on the enter key and the \ key which is just above the enter key, with moderate to good pressure. I used 2 fingers for the enter key to add even pressure.

(the reason for this you might ask is that the Fault is to do with the GPU which is the nVidia Graphics chip, by heating up the laptop the solder on the board gets hot. then buy pressing down on the above red labeled keys, which are directly above the GPU, you are basically reseating the GPU back into place.) This has happened on a few different brands of laptop, HP, Apple, Dell etc. so is a know problem with the same model Nvidia GPU's for all these brand laptops.)

Turn on the laptop while pressing down on the above keys.(do this as soon as possible as the computer will start to cool down and you will have to start all over again.)

wait till the fans reduce speed, then turn of the laptop again.

you might have to do this a couple of times for it to work. (i only had to do it once because i left my laptop in my carry bag for an hour to get it realy hot, remember i took out my hdd so as not to damage it)

Then with the laptop turned off again hold down the F12 key turn the laptop on again and wait till the fans spin down again. then start tapping the F12 continually for about 10 seconds.

(The above F12 is like a factory reboot/reset sequence .

Then turn the laptop off again.

Turn it back on and if you pressed down just right, then you would have reseated the GPU and your lappie will be working again.

Hope this helps those people out there with TX model laptops.

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

[ Edited ]

After saving a huge amount of money N190,000 (Nigeria)  to purchase my dream tablet laptop, Augost 2008 From Ethel Venture in Abuja. June 2009 the wireless went off together with finger Print Reder, I contacted ethel i was told to use factory reset disc that it was just a small problem.  Due to love for my file i want to find time and large disk to backup my file before doing that. That took me to september 3rd 2009. After factory reset, the problem still persist. Due to so murch Love I have for HP Product, I still want to Use  the Laptop without wireless & Finger Print. 2 weeks after factory reset (september 2009) my laptop go Blank (Led on, Fan Spining But Screen) Now out of Warranty (1yr 1 month) I I was directed by same ethel to nearby hp repair centre I was told my waranty is out and I need to replace the board with another huge amount.

What I got from Posts is that (Factry Flaw) Faulty Nvidia Chip is the problem

MY Question:

Is their no way this Chip Can be Replace By this so called Repair Centre?

I think the world need to know what to buy and NOT and HP with Nvidia Chip is No 1 Not to buy List if HP is not ready to take responsibility abut this problem.

IF I HAVE THE POWER I WILL BAN ALL IMPORTATION OF THIS PRODUCT TO MY COUNTRY, WE AFRICA HERE SUFFER A  LOT IN THE CASE OF PART REPLACEMENT OR BUYING NEW GADGET DUE TO THE IMPORTER ADD TOO MURCH GAIN.

PLEASE. Apart from changing the board which will still go bad after 1yr again, WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE  OF FIXING THIS PAIN?

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

I have a tx2500 a tx2525nr to be exact and the symptom is no power up fan spins up a bit then stops and sometimes stays on, then immediately the caps lock and num lock lights flash continuously.

Is this the same issue?  I've pulled ram HD, power, main battery, even pulled (I guess CMOS) battery next to HD under the cover. Held power on/off button for 10 seconds...Nothing.  I've even clicked my heals twice wished and I were in Kansas (minus the red shoes)... Any ideas???

HP Pavillion Tx 2030ee Tablet
Power on
Led on
Fan Sinning
BUT BLANK SCREEN

If you have the same pros. follow me !!!!

My Own tx2030ee Went Off after my 1 month warranty expired. STRANGE!!!!! I Have so much love for this tablet.

Am a system (PC) Engr. But I want HP to decide what to do first. Repair Centre told me to pay about $500 to change the sys board.

What I got from Posts is that (Factry Flaw) Faulty Nvidia Chip is the problem

So I kept the Laptop for some time but NOW I GOT IT FIX. !!!!!! Still don’t know when it will go blank again.

MY Question:
Is their no way this Chip Can be Replace By this so called Repair Centre?

If HP is not ready to step up and solve this problem they will loose valuable customer’s.

The problem is with the NVIDIA Chip Re-hit (If u are lucky it will pick)

FIX IT YOUR SELF
1. Charge the Battery FULL
2. Get a Nylon leather that can contain the laptop
3. ON THE LAPTOP Cover the screen and put it the nylon (Air Tight)
4. Put The Laptop again in the laptop bag and zeep it.
5. Allow for about 1 hr
6. After 1 hr open the bag
i. If the Laptop is still on OFF it AND On again immidiatly and use your palm to press the following keys at the same time K, L, : ;, " ', > enter / THE PURPOSE IS TO RESOLD THE INVIDIA CHIP WHICH IS LOCATED UNDER THE LISTED KEYS.
ii. If the Laptop is off, Fine Just Start the system normally.

Repeat this procedure you might get lucky

OR IF YOU ARE GOOD IN TECH JOB, JUST RE-HEAT THE CHIP, IF IS STILL ALIVE THEN ENJOY.

Pls IF you succeed drop your post here!!!

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

As I wronte in earlier post,  it was I have a tx2525nr which uses the ATI 3200 video chipset.  Not sure if the issue is still heat related as it did get hot when it wasBrunning.  I see on ebay that there are companies that will "repair" the motherboard for $165 US.

Im thinking this might be my route....

I just found this thread because this is exactly what has happened to my girlfriends Tx2500 this morning, just out of warranty :smileysad:

She'd litterally just finished scaning and catalogging the photo's of her mother who passed away from lung cancer last month, so I hope to god the hard drive hasn't suffered in a burn out.

Is this why HP Machines only have 1yr warranties then, certainly won't be buying them again..

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

oh, yeah, and though it's circumstancial she'd just blown a load of cash on a new official HP battery from amazon that is now useless and never used, win7 and office2k7, great timing :smileysad:
