I agree, no heat gun, using a simple hair dryer, not a heat gun, on the outer case for 90seconds fixed two of mine, the dv9000, everything works, my tx1000, everything works but the wifi, and that is the first thing that failed, both my computers are now slightly used with almost no load, and believe me, I am not taking mine apart, because if they do come up with a 'concession program' they can refuse to repair the computer, they know what kind of problem they have, and if they keep selling and making money on their computer business, they just don't care. They don't have to do anything for us unless it becomes a burn, fire, safety issue. Remember, the squeaky gear (sometimes) gets the oil.
Keep On Pushing !

How do we hit HP's NEW revenue? That is the key!
I think the ONLY way to HP to really pay attention is to make sure that NEW buyers know that HP is NOT taking care of their old customers systems. The BEST way to do that is flood the message boards about this issue and tell everyone that maybe they havn't fixed it in their new products either. They just announced at CES a new tm series of tablets. We need to make sure those buyers have FUD (Fear, Uncertanty and Doubt) that HP will do the same to them.
my own counterpoint...
The video controller gets hot but HP changed GPUs from nvidia (tx1000) to ATI (tx2000) series and Im not sure that was the only issue. I propose the issue is heat and dispersing it, ... fast. Dont get me wrong I love AMD processors, however AMD processors run a bit hotter (temp-wise) than their Intel counterparts (did you notice that the new tm series of tables use Intel processors)? I think that is where HP has made their mistake. The tx2700 series (focused more towards the business market) uses the Intel processor family and we dont hear about issues with those tablets. I realize they sold exponentially less of them as well, so the numbers are skewed im sure...
BTW my laptop was repaired, it only to last 3 weeks before it took a dump again (a tx2525nr) AMD proc with a ATI GPU

This might be a bit weird and i kind of have an idea why it happened but Last nigth I became a proud owner of a Tx2000z series some how
(craigslist) and everything was working great for the fist few hrs I got it eventually I did a clean install of win 7 ultimate ,install drivers and you know all of that fun stuff until everything turn really ugly for me,
it was the moment I updated the freaking BIOS
the **bleep** thing just kind of crash during the middle of the bios flashing and now im stuck with a huge touchscreen brick
after I try to turn it on all the ligths go on and the mute light stays orange then it makes a beeep-bep-bep-beeeep and nada
I called HP and the guy wants me to send the computer over them it stills under guarantee luckily
but I have a gig in about 3 weeks and I really need a laptop to perform
the promoter already paid for this and I dont want to end up looking like a dumb bot if i cancel the gig so if anyone out there could provide me with some help it would be appreciated
I been looking like crazy everywhere for a reference in how to fix this so far no luck
I don't know if trying to reset the Bios will work since it stop working after i tried the bios update i don't thing it is the so called graphics card problem i think it has to do with the Bios but who knows
please Im in desperate need for help ![]()

zarbeat,
Units crashing during a BIOS flash is never a good thing. I would just send it in and make it pronto if you need it back in 3 weeks (you should be able to get it back within that time frame).
Also, if you will be running mission-critical programs on your laptop for the gig, I'd consider a different computer if possible. If you have nothing else, then you'll be okay but I'd run it upside-down if possible. In my experience the TX series is more stable that way. You can hook up an external mouse/keyboard/monitor if needed.
BTW, are you a DJ or composer/artist? Just curious because I'm somewhat of a musician myself.

That's cool. I don't yet do LivePA... maybe in the future
I consider my genre EBM/Electronic with a bit of Industrial influence.
The process of resetting the BIOS by touching a screwdriver sounds to me like resetting the BIOS settings to their defaults - however, in your case since the computer crashed when flashing, you will have different problems that can't be solved simply.

HP is terrible for helping customers have a new TX2 took 2 weeks of hassle to replace now I am told I have to wait till they ship. No one can answer when it will come. Do not buy HP

Well, I added my problem to the list...
then I read that it might be the "sleep" function so I disabled it and
the computer worked for another several weeks... hooray!
Then tonight -- the blue screen of hardware failure death.
I would love to know the failure rate of these machines.
**bleep** them!
