Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

[ Edited ]

Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who were experiencing this problem. I have a TX2000 ordered directly from the HP website a little under two years ago. Had been experiencing random blackout on the monitor for a couple of months, but I've been shrugging it off. Recently I installed Windows 7 and upgrade the RAM and then this happens. Blank screen, but fan runs and all buttons turn on with light but don't function.

Please fess up to your mistakes HP, and recall this faulty product! Otherwise I'm never buying an HP again (and within my family, we have purchased 5 HP laptops in the past).

Hi all.

Had the same problems with my tx2020. Black screen but fan and lights on. Computer never booted. This fix probably won't work for all, but for my black screen it did. Take out the ram from the first ram slot underneath the computer. Or try different combinations. The broken ram slot keeps the computer from booting. Remember to pull the electricall plug, take out the battery, and hold the power button for 20 seconds to empty computer for electricity. My computer works now, but with less ram.

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

i got exactly the same issue. i got my motherboard replaced twice during warranty, then it broke again, but they will not take my computer repaired for free. They want to charge me $398!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! crazy!!! thats almost a new computer!

the tech online told me this:

HP had created some good number of notebook in one factory. After few days when those notebook lunch in market we got some issue with motherboard. Amitesh : So HP research on this exact issue and isolate this is a issue with faulty motherboard. Amitesh : HP stop this production and declared all product name which have created in this factory in our webs to inform all our valuable customer to get free repair.

Amitesh : But your notebook created in some other place. So it has not installed this faulty motherboard and not in this list.
so now i have $1000 piece of trash in my house!
never buying HP again in my life

Hey everybody:

My laptop has been experiencing this problem, too.  I think I may have found a pseudo-fix for it that doesn't require you to open up your laptop, but in order to consider it a fix I need others to try this, too.

Check out this thread (from these forums); specifically, my 3rd post:

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/TX-series-notebooks/TX-1000-does-not-start/td-p/169566

In order to try this fix you'll need to at least get your laptop to boot and stay alive long enough to install the software and run it for a few days.  I would recommend doing the factory restore before attempting this (and backup your data first).

Please let me know if anyone has any success with this.

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

I am really frustrated. It is a shame HP did not recall their Tx series. I had too many problems and on top of it today the monitor stopped working.

Discussing this with a friend, he told me he got 3 laptops, same model, and all of them are all ready not working. Same story.

Definetely HP has now a good number of ex-fans that will actively NOT RECOMMEND buying products from them.

This is surely the best way we have to make these guys accept they have a bad product out in the market and a recall should take place.

Re: FIX black screen at boot up

HP CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM BY DESIGNING  THEIR GPU TO USE PIN INSTEAD OF SOLDERING. SO THAT IT CAN BE LOCK LIKE THE CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT.

I HAVE TO KEEP RE-HEATING MY GPU ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK TO KEEP IT WORKING.

Re: Familiar Story - tx2000 - lights and fan on, but black screen at boot up

To up-date everyone, I wrote another letter to CEO-Mark, kind of a Happy Holiday cute type of letter, yesterday I got another call from a case mgr named Lisa. Same BS, very few problems with the tx1000, for the millions they sold, they really think all of us are stupid, she offered a new super deal, $100 off the $398. repair and only a 90 day warranty ! I laughed, told her it's simple, if you want me back as a customer correct your problems at no charge, no go, so I guess they don't want my money, and to DaniW of HP, you might suggest that your CEO of Customer Relations (I never heard of a CEO of customer relations, only a manager) hire some one that appears to care, the one that called me yesterday made me feel that she sure didn't like her job and when I told her she surely has job security I heard a 'grumble" .. but I did leave by wishing her a happy holiday, I know the 'no care attitude' is just the nasty flowing down from the top, down to the ones on the lower end of the ladder. We'll see, maybe they will see the light in the new year ?
