Mine overheats even though I am only using an external monitor. If you use the power saving features it runs cooler, however is now slower than another laptop I have that is 4 years older, and the graphics on a low end online game I play is very jumpy. This is a game that can be played fine on a low end 2005 desktop with 1GB ram and on board video card. When I tried downloading the updated BIOS from the HP website, it says "not for your system" when trying to install even though I correctly entered the model and operating system. HP doesn't even bother to make sure it posts the correct BIOS to match the system input.

I have had the same issues with the black screen and cursor issues... It also gets really hot. It needs to be recalled this is my 5th time since 2008 that I have had the black screen issue and now I have all of my dissertation work on it and can not access. I am sooooooo @@#$%### . To find out all of these same problems and it has not been addressed by HP. This is the last time I will purchase an HP product and I will tell all of my friends. I am a military member and my base sells this product I am going to pass the word for them not to purchase. Customer service has not helped. The blow dryer didn't work. I am going to try pressing on the jkl keys next before I totally wipe the system clean. Ugh.. HP GET ON THE JOB... AND FIX THIS PROBLEM.....

Bought a Pavillion TX2130EA about 5 years ago for 600 GBP . after 1year , like all others , it crashed , black screen and that was it. Contacted HP and of course the only answer I got was that my guaranty was expired ( what a coincidence) . I then just put the pavillion in the atic and went straight to DELL and bought a fantastic INSPIRON N5010.. and forgot about HP and the pavillion in the atic.
About 3 month ago , I came accross a YouTube Video who explain how to repair overheating HP pavillion laptops. I thought what the hec , nothing to loose , the laptop hasn't been working for years anyway ... I will try .. so I bought a
so all together , it costed me less than 10 GBP , one saturday in time and .. tada !!!
so to all of you who have made the same mistake as me buying this Pavillion , have a go .. it is really not rocket science, just be very patient and pay attention to what you are doing.

Hi RAVENFREE
Don't wipe your system clean , it will not change anything as it is a heating issue that everybody knows but HP doens't want to do anything about it.. they are too happy to steal money from us.
Please see my post about repairing it ..
cheers

I already opened it once and fixed it by reseating the chips. This lasted a few weeks.
I just ordered a few Copper shims and will be adding them on w/Artic.... Let's see how it goes this time.
ftr, My other Laptop is an HP also and I haven't had any issues *gulp* yet...

Hello all ,
Just to say that, after my repair, to this day my TX2000 has been working like a charm. It still runs fast and warms up more than other laptops, but is runs absolutely fine. no crash since ..

Replaced the keyboard, water damage fried it, replaced the prosessor, water damage fried it, replaced the fan, running at an average of 90 degrees C doesn't help. Added Arctic silver 5, onto the new prosessor, chucked the thermal pad for the gpu, put AS5 on the GPU, replaced the thermal pad with a penny (Get one made before 1996, the 1996 and above aren't pure copper) Took the screen off, It was annoying and small, and now I'm here, still surviving with this clunker, Running at 40 Degrees C. ![]()

(I don't get the black screen issue because of the fact that my board houses an ATI radeon card.)
