Hi, my PC is an HP TouchSmart tx2 running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (clean install). I have this issue with the multitouch capabilities of the TouchSmart. When I am using the laptop by itself the multitouch and the pen works as it should, no problems. However, if I connect my external monitor and set it up as an extended desktop under Windows whenever I perform a finger gesture of a finger tap on the screen the tap is recognized on the external monitor and not in the built in monitor. The problem does not away even if i recalibrate the touchscreen under N-Trig touch and pen settings under control panel. Does anyone run into the same scenario or knows a fix to this bug? The only fix I have found is not to use it multitouch when im connected to an external monitor, however it is worth mentioning that the pen works as it should.
Regards,
Y from Texas

I have exactly the same problem with a tx2 running win7 profession 64. I didn't have the problem yesterday but restored the original install this morning because of suspected wi-fi file corruption problems and then reinstalled all my software. While the 31 microsoft "updates" were installing, I attached the external monitor. When it rebooted, only the external monitor was live and I had to set the displays for extended. I got on the phone with HP support and we did a bunch of stuff but none of it worked. After getting off the phone, I decided to try the pen and it works correctly even with the external monitor attached. What appears to happen is that touch's "affects" are transfered to the external screen whenever it's attached but when it's disconnected, all is well.
I'd like to know what the resolution is if you ever figure it out. I'm on the road for business but happened to have all my software disks with me (lessons learned the hard way) but one full backup, restore, and reinstall of all software is enough for one weekend. The unfortunate part is that the wi-fi problems were hotel caused, the first time I've ever had such a problem - blocking my MAC address since I opened too many web pages at once. One cannot change the MAC address on this machine either, not in the adaptor set up or in the registery.

I have the same issue... just got back the tx2 from HP warranty service where they re-imaged it in Vista (it is a tx2-1025dx) and replaced the screen, the mother board and the battery. SO, I am pretty sure it is not a hw failure. After checking that everyything worked as expected under Vista, I installed W7 Ultimate and check that everything worked and alas it did, at least for a couple of days. Now after a week it is doing the same things it did before... touch showing up on external monitor when attached, touch not enabled after reboot - until suspend - awakend cycle. And finally occassionally the fingerprint sensor does not show up until the same suspend-awaken cycle.
Have found a solution to the touchscreen/external monitor interaction?
Thanks

How does one connect a second monitor to an HP Desktop Touchscreen.
Tech suppot at HP says it cannot be done. That's why, they say, there is no DVI port!
Thanks.
