I have the same computer and it also gets crazy hot. I've used cooling fans but they don't really help at all and I can barely feel any hot air blowing out. I've been thinking about opening it and get that canned air all up on it haha but I'll take any suggestions

hi
i have an hp touchsmart also
the llaptop was running very hot and shutting down
I was told the model runs hot and there is nothing to help this problem
i researched and found different things which will help with the problem includin putting a fan underneath the laptop directed at the vents it worked but performance was still slow
what worked for me is canned air....... i sprayed all the vents and openings the computer has and kept it up until i saw a difference.... each time it got better
i also use an open surface like a crate to allow air to get around the vents at all times
with this method and regular cleaning my laptop is working topnotch!!!!!!
good luck to you all ........ it is quiet the fan works and i am feeling cool air

Update from previous post
I bought some canned air and sprayed all vents and openings and I found a dual cooling fan at Best Buy. I also downloaded a temp reader for the laptop and right now it's at 51 degrees. So far it's been doing okay and it's not overheating as bad as it was before :]
