Help with HP tx1000z.

Hey, I own a HP tx1000z CTO notebook. The configuration is as follows, 

- 

AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56 1.80 Ghz.

2.00 GB of RAM.

Windows Vista, 32 Bit.

120 GB of HDD (I think because only 111 GB is available and I am not using the Recovery Drive).

Product number: GD617AV

What I am confused about is that, 

1. Can I upgrade the RAM to 4GB and if so, the Hard drive as well? (I am an art student and I need more memory and space.)

2. Will I be facing driver problems if I do a clean install of Windows Vista 64 bit, I need to I guess because else, I won't be able to utilize the RAM completely.

3. Does my product have a fingerprint scanner, or is it optional and comes as an external hardware component? If it does, how in the world do I set it up, I have already installed the software and the driver necessary from the HP website. But I can't see where am I supposed to run this finger thing.

4. I lost the stylus! Is it particulary called by a name or something so that I can find and order?  

5. The Quickplay button, located on the right of my screen, and below the DVD play button, only opens up the DVD play feature, and I can't set up the webcam, it's working okay in Skype and Gtalk, but there must be some feature to click pictures as well, right? 

Guys, please help me out here! I need to upgrade ASAP! And please give me links to download the drivers, or the softwares to run this thing!

1. You can upgrade the hard drive to any bigger size as you want.As long its a 2.5inch SATA drive which fits inside the Notebook, it would work fine. In order to check maximum amount of RAM/memory supported on your notebook Install the crucial memory scannery utility from here

2.You wont face any issues if you install Windows 64bit , because compatible drivers and software can be found here for your Notebook.

3.Only select models of tx1000z have integrated fingerprint reader on them. Kindly check manual(page #11) over here for location of fingerprint reader for your Notebook

4.Its called stylus or a digitizer which must look something like this (see pic below).



The Part# is 441147-001 which can be ordered online. If you need any extra info on any additional parts, the service manual can be found here for download

 5. HP Quickplay is meant only to play DVDs and not to use webcam. There is no specific software as such for webcam but if you really need one, you can install HP Mediasmart webcam or Cyberlink youcam which are available on recent HP Notebooks but I'm really not sure if it would work

Hey man! Thanks for helping me out. I'm a LOT (relatively) at peace now. I've got some new problems now, if you could help me out with. I have decided to go for an upragde, Hard Drive and RAM (4GB), and I'll upgrade it to a 64-Bit Windows Vista. 

What I am wondering now is, 

1. What actually speeds up the computer, the RAM, or the processor? Both in hand in hand, I guess (obvious). But, what I need to know is, can I upgrade the processor as well. I died looking over the internet, and I couldn't find a single thread about it. 

2. I use, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver, and a few others, extensively. Not simultaneously though. So, I need to know how much RAM does Vista take, I know the operating system is a pain, but it's pleasent to my eyes. Should I upgrade to Windows 7? WIll it be lighter and faster? 

3. And how I am I supposed to utilize the whole of my memroy and hard disk space? 

Please dude, you gotta help me out, before I get hit by a train and eat this laptop alive.

1. RAM and processor both improve performance on the Notebook. I guess you never checked service manual(Page#74) over here which had list of processors supported on your Notebook.

Your Notebook motherboard supports maximum of 2.0 Ghz and extra difference from 1.80Ghz would be hardly noticeable and is not worth the effort because you would be spending quite a lot to upgrade the processor.

2. I would recommend you to upgrade it to Windows 7 64bit anyday compared to Vista

I am having trouble with the touch screen recognizing the stylus.  can anyone help me locate the software so that I may reinstall???

Is there any sort of response for touch when finger is used on touchscreen?

FYI , There is no special software as such for stylus.
