How To Access Auto-hide Taskbar By Touch (Using Pen or Finger)

Hi All,

I've setup my taskbar to auto-hide. How do I bring up the taskbar by touching the screen and not the mouse? I pointed the pen to the bottommost of the screen and the taskbar still won't comes up. I have to reach for the mouse or the keypad and point the cursor to have it pops up. Can it be done by touch?

Thanks.

What is the model number and product number (pn) from the bottom of your notebook? (don't put your serial number you should not give that out publicly)

What Operating system are you using?

Thanks.

I have the same question. i have a tx2-1275dx, running windows 7. If I auto-hide my task bar, how can I get it to appear with just the pen or my finger?

Okay guys I am investigating, I didn't find a clear solution on MS site yet, but will keep looking.

In the mean time I'm updating a TX2 Touchsmart to Win 7 Home premium 64 bit to see what I can see, I'm using the HP upgrade kit that just shipped.

I'll keep you posted.

Re: How To Access Auto-hide Taskbar By Touch (Using Pen or Finger)

okay I am updated and can reproduce your issue, but I also see the same thing on a TX2000 with Vista.

It may be a silly question but were you ever able to unhide the taskbar using the stylus on your TX2, in Vista?

Re: How To Access Auto-hide Taskbar By Touch (Using Pen or Finger)

ahhh the thick plottens....I found a way on the older TX2000 to do it, you have to go into Pen and input devices in the control panel, click on the Pointer options tab and uncheck "Show Pen cursors instead of mouse cursors when I use my pen"

Then I can use the Pen to unhide, but this option is not on the TX 2 touchsmart series which has different drivers and hardware.

I'll keep prodding but if we could not do it in Vista it is unlikey we would have that functionality changed just by upgrading to Win 7.

Hopefully HP will come out with a fix or something? It's really annoying when you have a touch screen and you have to grab the mouse. :smileymad: Whether you can find a solution or not, thanks for all your help!
