Re: How do you turn the touchpad off

If you are using a HP Pavilion dm1 (or similar)

In Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound, then to Devices and Printers, then to Mouse, then to Device Settings and just below the Devices window, click on "Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached.

Re: How do you turn the touchpad off

Hi there,

I just purchased a Pavillion dm4 and the touchpad is SUPER sensitive and therefore totally aggrevating when I'm trying to type.

When I try to follow many of the above instructions, it seems as though my computer has slight variations that makes those instructions impossible (it'll have 3 of the 4 steps etc.etc.).

Also, the top left button of the touchpad seems not to be working.  Does that happen often?

Thanks,

Samantha

Re: How do you turn the touchpad off

I have the Pavilion dm4. I do not have an on/off button next to my touch pad. I've already tried device manager/ de-selecting the touch pad (there is no "turn off' option.

The pad comes on and off at will.

Is there any other way to turn the **bleep** thing off FOREVER?

Re: How do you turn the touchpad off

To disable the ClickPad:
  1. Click Start , enter mouse in the search field, and then select the Mouse control panel program from the search results.
  2. On the Device Settings tab of the Mouse Properties panel, click the Synaptics Touchpad on the list and next Disable button to turn off the ClickPad.

Re: How do you turn the touchpad off

You can disable the touchpad through the control panel, so that answer is technically correct.  To rephrase the question, one of the advertised features of the TM2 is to be able to disable the touchpad by tapping the upper left corner ("tap off") of the touchpad.  The touchpad driver version 1.00 has the "tap off" feature.  "Tap off" doesn't work on either of the two "improved" driver versions available on the HP support site for the TM2.  The question I am asking is why doesn't the "tap off" feature work?  Why is HP releasing drivers that don't have this feature?
