Well my less than two year old TX1320us is now dead with the blank screen of death
It's interesting that not only are there many failures of the TX1000 series but also the time of death seems to be consistent with the failures. Around 18 months or so. A friend of mines dv94xx died of the same fate, but I think she will be covered under the enhanced warranty from HP. I cant imagine why HP will not respond in a positive manor to this issue when it is clear there is a widespread problem with this model which is pretty much the same problem the dv's suffered from. From reading all the complaints on the forum post, it sounds like it's not even worth the time or effort to try to contact HP customer support for any resolve on this issue. I bought two of these, one for me and one for the wife. Wonder how long hers will last. I'm not very confident in it at this point. If I can get the mother board repaired or replaced at a reasonable cost I will repair it myself. But I am NOT going to pay $400.00 to repair yesterdays technology. I will purchase a new laptop from a more reputable manufacturer of PC's before I spend a bunch of hard earned money to repair a problem that could reoccur 18 months down the road.
I hope HP reads these forums and takes to heart the amount of dissatisfaction consumers are posting regarding the TX series of note books. This is an opportunity to right a significant wrong. With today's economy the way it is, companies should value customer loyalty for continued success and growth.

Hi There,
Reading all or as many as poss the posts regarding wireless failure then blank screen, (add mine to it after 15 mths) do we know how many have actually reported this problem.? Approx that is?
I am about to start my ball rolling, but do you or anybody else know, whose camp to best roll it into first?
Ideally I would like HP to advise me who best to send it to for a FOC repair or replacement, is their a telephone number or e-mail address to whom I can send such a request?
Thanks in advance
Martin

Hi All,
I had the exact same problem when turning on my tx1001au, the lights would go on fans would spin, but no screen activity.
This might sound crazy, no need to open up laptop, just follow directions below WORKED for ME. Its now been working for over a week with no problems, but i have purchased a targus laptop cooler fan to keep my lappie cool.
take out hard disk drive. So as not to damage it from the exess heat buildup.
turn on laptop,
place in laptop carry bag and zip up to get heat buildup. (i did mine on a cool night so i did this for an hour) half an hour in most cases should be sufficient.
take laptop out of carry bag. turn off.
press down on the enter key and the \ key which is just above the enter key, with moderate to good pressure. I used 2 fingers for the enter key to add even pressure.
(the reason for this you might ask is that the Fault is to do with the GPU which is the nVidia Graphics chip, by heating up the laptop the solder on the board gets hot. then buy pressing down on the above red labeled keys, which are directly above the GPU, you are basically reseating the GPU back into place.)
This has happened on a few different brands of laptop, HP, Apple, Dell etc. so is a know problem with the same model Nvidia GPU's for all these brand laptops.)
Turn on the laptop while pressing down on the above keys.
(do this as soon as possible as the computer will start to cool down and you will have to start all over again.)
wait till the fans reduce speed, then turn of the laptop again.
you might have to do this a couple of times for it to work. (i only had to do it once because i left my laptop in my carry bag for an hour to get it realy hot, remember i took out my hdd so as not to damage it)
Then with the laptop turned off again hold down the F12 key turn the laptop on again and wait till the fans spin down again. then start tapping the F12 continually for about 10 seconds.
(The above F12 is like a factory reboot/reset sequence .
Then turn the laptop off again.
Turn it back on and if you pressed down just right, then you would have reseated the GPU and your lappie will be working again.
Hope this helps those people out there with TX model laptops.

I know this sounds crazy and the first time i heard it i thought the guy was just feeding me a bunch of bs but IT WORKS if you still have power lights after switching on your computer but the screen wont come try this
I have a Tx 1420us and this happens on more than a reg basis to mine
1 plug in the power cord and take out your battery ( this is so the battery does not start a fire if it gets to hot)
2 power the machine on
3 wrap the computer up in a towel and let it sit for about 30 mins
4 after 30 mins unplug the power cord and let the computer cool down for about 10 or 15 mins
5 restart the computer
I have a Tx 1420us and this happens on more than a reg basis to mine it has something to do with the heat sink and fan and graphics card and where they sit inside the computer it melts the sauter off the graphics card when it gets to hot and the only way to weld it back together is to overheat it again but afterwards it works like always . HP should really recall this defect and im sure if you look around alittle youll find this is a rather common problem for alot of hp laptop owners as did but unfortunely there has been no such recall as of yet if i hadnt paid nearly 1100.00 dollars for my computer and just had that kinda money to throw away Id chunk mine in the trash but like many other hp cmputers i just have to continue feeling completely RiPped OFf
thanks HP

Just wanted to validate jnj_mcmorris temporary fix. It works!! I did what he said with the added addition: 1)removed hard drive 2) rotated screen to slate position. 3) let the pc overheat in the towel in the UPSIDE down position. After letting it cool down, reinstalled the hard drive and it booted right up!! While I know this is a quick fix and doesnt address the real issue of the GPU becoming unsoldered, it did fix it and confirms the GPU issue. I will eventually crack into the case and add a copper washer between the GPU and heat sink to keep pressure applied to the GPU. As for HP not acknowledging this defect, shame on you!!! AND its bye bye HP for me!!! They have seen the last of me AND my hard earned $$$$. Best of luck to all the other HP users suffering from poor HP support!!
Cheers!!

Acropolis and jnj_mcmorris' solutions were right. I gave it a few attempts last night, but didn't have any luck. Then, I tried it again this morning. I put it in the laptop bag and wrapped a towel around it and let it sit for like an hour and a half to two hours. It took a few tries. On the last attempt, I decided to also press down on all the keys on the keyboard because I really didn't have luck on just the \ and enter keys. Anyways, then I shut down and turned on pressing F12 following Acropolisis other instructions and TADA!! It came back to life!! After a while the wireless came back also, but wasnt sure for a minute because I had a freeze up. At least I was able to back all of my data up. No telling how long this is going to last, but at least I could get my important documents off. Not sure if I'll be purchasing anymore HP's for now. They have been pretty decent up until now, but seeing how many people have this problem and the way that they are ignoring it to me is sort of a forcast of the future.. Definitely considering that MacBook Pro for my next laptop. I need something reliable and they get rave reviews on CNET. Also my neice says that they can play COD4 on them now, so YAY!!! Thanks for the help everyone. Does anyone know where the petition is so that I can sign it?

i have this problem as well.Im from philippines. A week ago i had the same problem but I got rid of it by removing the battery and ram and clean te pins with eraser and turn off then turn on but then again it came back and my technique was no longer working. My laptop is a tx2028au, my brother bought it in singapore and so the warranty is there as well. I dunno where could I bring it here in philippines. This is really frustrating!!!
