No Windows 7 drivers for tx2050eg?

Hi,

I am using a Pavilion tx2050eg for university business. Now I am thinking of upgrading the notebook to Windows 7. Looking on the HP driver download page for my notebook model brought almost no results. The only things available for Windows 7 are a recovery tool and "SmartMedia" TV software.

So my questions are... did anybody try to upgrade a 2050eg or a similar notebook to Windows 7? And if yes... which drivers were used? Do Vista versions work?

Best regards,

Julie

Re: No Windows 7 drivers for tx2050eg?

I've upgraded a tx2000z to Windows 7. HP apparently isn't updating those drivers for Windows 7. Most of the drivers installed automatically via windows update. All of the control buttons on the edge of the screen didn't work. I installed the Windows 7 driver for the HP quick launch buttons found here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4062&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3999429

and I've had no problems with the screen rotating or driver crashing, etc. It's for a newer version called a tx2z which looks just like mine. My guess is that some of the hardware items are essentially the same and thus the drivers. When you get into chipsets and video cards which are updated or different all together, then the drivers are updated and different. It's a matter of finding what is similar and trying the drivers for a similar laptop. If you can find the manufacturer and part number for whatever device isn't working, the best thing would be to try to find drivers at the manufacturer's website.

I've not tried Vista drivers, but I did think about it.

Re: No Windows 7 drivers for tx2050eg?

This thread is saying that the Vista drivers will work on Windows 7. I've still not tried it.

Re: No Windows 7 drivers for tx2050eg?

Thanks for your help!

I just wonder why they don't publish any Win7 drivers for the tx2xxx series...

Did the installation of Win7 increase your system speed? Especially booting takes too much time with Win Vista.

Best regards,

Julie
