Occasional Boot Up Problem

I have a three-week old TX2-1055ee, and i have occasional problem when im turning on the laptop. It freezes between the hp logo and windows logo (black screen with underscore on top left of the screen). I tried waiting for 5mins and nothing happened, my solution is to hold my power switch about 10 sec to turn off the laptop then turn back on again, second time it will now boot to windows. I encounterd this 3 times for the last 4 days and it annoys me. so i'm hoping if anyone of you had the same problem as mine. i'm sure that this is not a normal thing for new laptop. any suggestion what is the cause of this problem. Thanks in advace

Re: Occasional Boot Up Problem

I would say the first thing to check is that you have the latest BIOS, yiou can see your current version in Windows by holding down the "fn" key and pressing the "esc key" or you can tap the f10 key as you boot up and get it from the BIOS.

If it is less than F.14 then download the new BIOS from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3877328&lang=en

While in the BIOS you can also go to the diagnostic tab and run the Hard-drive test

let me know how it goes.

Re: Occasional Boot Up Problem

I have an HP Pavillon tx2500 Notebook PC, it's like 3 years old already, my problems started last year. I had the same boot up problems but decided not to consult about it since I could still use it after 1 power off and reboot, but lately the problem just got too annoying as they occured too frequently and i'd need about 3 reboots. At first I thought it might be my sims game that's causing the problem but then again my friend has the same game and she's not experiencing these boot up problems. My biggest concern was that earlier, I turned my laptop on and the driver light was not flashing, it's like my hard drive was not working. I switched it on and off several times and completely thought my driver had already died then tried it one more time. It worked but i'm not sure if it will turn on again after this use today. I tried the BIOS, but the thing said that the BIOS was not for my notebook. what am i going to do?
