I installed the latest n-trig 2.184 driver for my HP tx2z-1000 CTO laptop in Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. However, the system information shows that it only supports "Pen and Touch Available with 2 Touch Points". I tought n-trig supports unlimited number of touch points? In N-trig's driver release notes, it says MTG is for XP and Vista, and only supports up to 2 touch points, while MTM is for Windows 7, and supports unlimited number of touch points. So why do we only get 2 touch points for Windows 7?

N-Trig reduced the number of touch-points from four to two in the transition from the 2.59 (beta) to 2.184 A drivers. Whether this was intentional or not, who knows.
At least one fellow from HP claims that drivers with four touch-points have a "later schedule." See this post for more information.
I wouldn't hold your breath while waiting for drivers with four or more touch-points from either N-Trig or HP, though. They both have a history of poor communication with their customers.
I personally believe that N-Trig digitizer technology isn't quite ready for prime-time, and that you probably won't see anything significant in the next driver release (N-Trig/HP: prove me wrong, please).

I found my old n-trig driver 2.59 for windows 7 RC. It installs perfect in Windows 7. Now I have 4 touch points, so I'll settle for 2.59 for now.
I agree with you. I do get the impression that N-Trig isn't ready for serious business yet. At least they've got a very weak driver development team. It's been about 6 months after Windows 7's release, and they are still incapable of producing a working multi-touch driver for Windows 7.

I heard that a new driver is coming soon that supports 4 touch points. Let's wait and see.

That's great news! But, I'll believe it when I see it.
A solution for the lack of pressure sensitivity in programs that use the WinTab driver is also apparently on the way:
I hope both solutions see the light of day soon. I am eager to start experimenting with 4+ touch-points.
