Pavilion tx2520au pen response not smooth

[ Edited ]

HP Pavilion tx2520au Tablet PC

I noticed that screen's response to my pen is getting rather erratic, at least with apps like Photoshop CS4 and GIMP 2.6. I hope this has nothing to do with:

  • Driver problems: (APR 21-24) Extended monitors caused the ATI driver atikmdag.sys to fail repeatedly, so I've stopped using extended monitors.
  • Heavy tapping: (APR 26) Okay, I was using MS Paint for a dose of daily drawing. At some point, I had to do patterns, so I had to tap a little harder than usual.

Is either these the cause of the problem? I'd also like to find a solution which hopefully doesn't need me to replace this machine.

Samples taken from testing with Photoshop CS4 below:

Before the unknown cause

The lines are rather smooth and well-defined.

Before problem.jpg

P.S.: No comments on the drawing, please.

After the unknown cause

The lines are no longer smooth and feel rather jagged at some point. As you can see, one of the curves has a line coming from the right. But in truth, I started at the point where the line starts to curve. The screen draws the horizontal line by itself before it draws the curve I made.

After problem.jpg

P.S.: And no, I didn't use a ruler or any tool to draw the horizontal line.

Try Calibrating the Screen

No effect, Pankay. Thanks for trying.

I also want to ask:

How much physical pen pressure can the tx2500 series last before problems start to creep up?

And if this really is the source of my problem, can the screen be fixed even if it requires technical maintenance?

i dont think it should be a hardware issue....

it might be if the notebook is too old and used roughly..

How old is old? I've been using this since December 2008. That's 2.5 years since this post.

And what kind of rough are talking about?

Yeah. It just complicated things. So, no. Problem unsolved. In fact, it just got bigger. I've posted a new problem in a new thread.
