Problem with HP SimplePass Identity protection???

Hi, I just purchased "HP Pavilion dv6 3049tx" few days back, & now all of a sudden my finger print reader is not working..!?? It says, "unable to detect finger print reader" at start up... even though I've re-installed the driver & software of "digital persona ver5.00.140a", the problem persists..., even I've tried restoring to factory settings, but no use! ....one strange thing what i observed is that, the finger print reader driver is not visible under "Biometric/Human Interface menu" in the device manager even after installing the necessary drivers & softwares!!... please help me..???

Hi, this may be a hardware issue, but before you go to the trouble of having your unit repaired I would recommend trying a System Recovery.

You don't need discs, you can run it by either tapping the "f11" key while booting, or by choosing "Recovery Manager" from the start menu (just type recovery in the start search box)

From here you can choose to reinstall drivers or applications or to run a recovery back to factory settings.

You will need to back up any personal data you have as it will wipe it out.

If you run recovery and it works, it's not hardware, if you run it and it does not work, it most likely is hardware and you should have the unit repaired under warranty.

hi have a hp pavilion dv6 3080er laptop....i install new windows 7 ultimate now...but my HP SimplePass Identity protection is not working now .what to my hardware divice shown in the divice manager...but the software is not not working any how .pls help me!!!!

Same issue here. Believe it worked just fine before installation of some patches from Microsoft about two weeks ago. Now it only works for Windows Logon. All websites mention that it is not a logon screen and cant add logon information for reader to input data.

hopefully this gets fixed, thinking its just a patch the knocked it out temporarily.

I am having similiar issues...My HP SimplePass Identity Protection's finger scanner works to log me onto the computer, but lost all of my management on all other log ins.  If I go to programs and click on HP SimplePass Identity Pass Icon and click on it, the application comes up for an initial set up...If I then, click on Password Management when on a Log In Screen, I get the error messase that This is not a log on screen, EVEN if I have my cursor in the actual log in field!

My version of HP SimplePass Identity Protection is 5.20.205e ...

checked the Biometric Devices under Device Manager and it says that everything is up to date (VSF301)...

With simplepass 7.x or 2011.. i get the same cannot detect error message..

I have a dv7t-2000.. digital persona worked fine (but not with newer firefox).. is simplepass not compatible with dv7t-2xxx?
