This thing worked like a charm, I had never experienced the black out screen and thank GOD I did not have to sent it to get fixed. The adapter I think he is talking about is the charger. I dont know why that made a difference but I did hold the power button and then put battery back in and charger as well and powered it up.... and screen came on.... wow... I think the problem arose from me letting the battery drain while it was in hibernation and then when I tried to turn it on only the lights would light up....thanks again for having this forum

I had this problem, it started booting normally after I removed the ram from the top slot, it seems that slot had stopped working, try alternating and see if it helps.

My TX2000 bought in May, 2008 went to black again. It first happened on last winter. I managed get it backto life after powering off and taking out battery . But no more luck this time. It is just a piece of garbage now.
This TX2000 always have over-heating problem. The air blowing out of the vent has been always very hot and I actually get my right forearm burned last year. The scar is still visible.
I believe the theory of GPU fault some users provided because one of the symptoms before its death is that everytime when I brought it back from hiberation, it lost its screen resolution setting (1200 x 800) and went by itself to the lowest one (800 x 600).
It is a shame that HPhas known this issue for a long time and hasn't recall this piece of junk.

Hi folks ! I just recovery my tx2510us from black screen. I followed the instructions here but nothing than black screen. But I read an HP document how to correctly clear CMOS. You need to unpplug main battery, adapter/charger and CMOS battery too. Wait 5 minutes, hold power button on for 1 minute, release. Plug the adapter/charger (do not put any battery) and turn on. And that's it.

It's nice notebook... but overheat sometimes... I will buy the botton fans... I dont want to brick it again..

good morning HP Team
been so long that i have a problem with your HP TX2000!
I bought it on home depot, ft. Lauderdale Florida! on May 3, 2008
i used it on ship ok and ama zed the features that you make! after finishing my contract and went back to
Manila, Philippines! on Novermber 10, 2008 the hardisk fail and i have to buy a new one a 250 gig HDD!
Which can't avail of your warranty! due to im on Manila! so i have to shoulder it the hardisk itself!
After then! 4months passby! sudenlly the black screen occur! which the common problem of your HP
TX2000! So i try to fix it to technician in here and have to pay for it my own again expense!
after 2months of used! i came back again to technician to arrange again the black screen failure to open!
after 2yrs. in time take it back again the third time! now i using it again and have a blog on here just to let
you know the problem which as a user/customers right! can you give as a recall! even i don't get a rebate
on buying these product! your HP TX2000 had me crave when it was release in market! and have to save
money on it to buy these model! maybe next time i'm thinking! of quality not the design itself and features!
thank you and have a great day ahead

I've got some black screens (without the two flashing LEDs) now and then for a month. I got a hint in a blogpost somewhere to press the keys "J", "K" and "L" very hard with the palm of your hand at the same time as the power button is pressed to turn it on. However, that did not work on my laptop. It has often started again after 10-20 tries.
Today it did not start, so I took it apart and found the nVidia IC, which is not located under J, K and L in my computer. When I pressed that IC hard with my thumb, at the same time as I turned the computer on, it started!!! As it seems, there is a problem with the nVidia IC's BGA... And by pressing it hard when turning on the computer, it seems to work during the complete session.
In case the two LEDs are flashing, it might be a more severe problem; related to that the motherboard has been burnt by the broken nVidia BGA (according to the blog post). Since I have been running Ubuntu instead of Windows, it might be "less broken" than if you run Windows...
Anyway... in case you don't get it to run, try to press _very hard_ with your palm aprox 1 cm to the left and 3 cm below the rightmost CTRL button. Don't know if it works or not, but it is worth a try!
