TX2000 black screen problems

I have a TX2110 laptop that just suddenly went to black screen at boot, lights are working, fan is running, HD spins up but nothing on screen, I tried external monitor and nothing on it either. I went through all the troubleshooting  and even replaced the HD but still nothing but black screen.

What can I do? anything? or will it need sent back to HP?

You are not alone!!! You more than likely are experiencing what I and many other TX owners are experiencing. Read the following post. And if you cant get satisfaction from HP service, sign the petition.

Re: TX2000 black screen problems

sometimes when the computer hibernates it can get stuck in that mode. Nothing serious. Remove the battery, remove the adapter and hold in the power button for 15 seconds. put the battery and adapter back in and then attempt to start the notebook

Re: TX2000 black screen problems

didn't help any, but there is some "good" news, When I called HP I found out there was still a couple months left on warranty so I do get to send it back for repairs. I sure wouldn't put any more of my money towards this "POS". err I mean fine machine.

Re: TX2000 black screen problems

you will get a 90 day repair warrenty on the work that is done. If you choose not to extend your warrenty and you have another issue with the notebook you will need to pay for repairs/troubleshooting.

Glad to see you got a free repair!

tx 2000

I'm a professional graphic artist and this problem is really inconvenient for me and for the people who bought the tablet for more than $1000 only to get  a faulty product, like getting a blank screen.  I got my tablet pc for $1300+ and had the blank screen in less than 2 years and now the warranty is out, there's really not much I can do.  I've called the tech support and they told me that I have to pay $390 to get it fix and if I want to extend the warranty when it's fix I have to pay $150...soo ridiculous, I tried to get it fix free since they are selling this faulty product but no luck.  I don't think I will be getting HP because they didn't reconsider the situation that I was going through after talking to them for almost an hour and a half, and probably won't get Compaq as well since they are in the same company...I don't think that I would recommend anybody anymore to buy hp and compaq product.  [text removed]

Re: TX2000 black screen problems

Same problem here. I'm in australia and paid $1500 less than 2 years ago. Have had a series of problem so i'm still under the original warranty. But if you don;t believe the product was worth the money you paid (didn't last a reasonable amount of time for the money) you are entitled to a refund (at least under australian law), so it might be worth checking the fair trading policies of the country you are in, they may have to replace/repair it for free.

I am currently experiencing my third failure within 1 month and will be pressing them for a refund. Good luck

Re: TX2000 black screen problems

Followed your instructions and I am back up and running. Thanks for posting this fix.

For others who aren't quite sure what Gangles posted, I just took out my battery, plugged in the AC adaptor and started the machine. It went straight to the HP Bios, then in to Vista's login with no porblems whatsoever.

Thanks for the sugestion how to fix this problem. I was worried I was going to have to buy a new laptop as mine is way out of warranty.

I am an independent graphic artist... times have been tough with the economic state and all; as stated by the others I have also been cursed by the warranty expiration video card defect disaster........i have tried to fix my machine (because you won't) and have had minor success; I have gotten it to the point where it somtimes works on boot, but it still fails unconvieniently unnexpectedly....I just wanted you to know that due to the fact I have lost much work because of this defect, I have become homeless..........................................Merry Christmas HP, oh and by the way I will never buy another one of your products again [text removed]
