I also have a TX2500 which has died after 2 1/2 years. Having used laptops at work and home for 20 years I have never had a problem before. The machine always ran very hot and I simply did not like it but it was what my wife wanted! It starts uo with all lights on, three flashes on the status lights and a black screen. I have removed the hard disc to get all the data off it, easier than getting at the backup, and that worked OK. I have tried all the tricks, remove RAM and swap it about, remove CMOS battery, try all the keys to get into setup but it is dead. We have already decided HPs suport policy and practice is totally unacceptable. They are selling goods which are not fit for purpose and, even though warrenty is 1 year {Content Removed: no legal discussion permitted}? Anyone able to add anything please.
We will never buy anything HP again and are ensuring everyone we know wont!

I'm not going to purchase an HP laptop either; I was also very disappointed to see it dead after 1 1/2 years and without any warning...Thanks for the internet and a bit of know how, I managed to get it back online. You should try to fix it using the torch technique to reconnect the video chip to the motherboard; at this point, you have nothing lose (unless something is done to force HP to acknowledge their responsibilities).
Thank you

Now it blinks 4 times. I've tried everything short of baking the GPU with a heat gun.... nothing still.
This is pretty ridiculous.

There should be a recall of the TX 2500 series, but HP denies any issues with the system.
I have gone through a month of trying to work out issues and the "Executive Service" denies any problems, but they were able to quote me $314 to fix the problem..and they were not suprised that I could start the system with a hairdryer. I have had NO RESPONSE to a letter written to the company.....and the system finally went DOA about an hour ago.
I was interested in reading this thread, as I was told on the phone that "Those bloggers can say anything...there our service tech have no records of any porblems with the machines" So HP has know about the issues with the TX2500 series and has not done anytihng, but continue to sell them (mine was purchased directly from HP)...I even informed the company that I was blogging about my experiences on FB, but they did not seem to care...
I would not wait for HP to "cowboy up" on this and take any type of responsibility for the shoddy product. It does not seem like they care about the corporate image.

The only reason why I think they don't care about resolving the problem and making their customers happy is $$$....These heat related GPU/CPU failures are probably plaguing a big % of their consumer products for the past few years; Fixing them would cost millions.

Yup...
I bought TWO HP tx2500z's a few years back and they both died right at the same time, about a month after the warranty period ran out. They BOTH had the same problem of the blinking LED's and not having the screen turn on at all.

Just watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGdTjKt-cYg&feature
Basically when you are powering up the system, press your palm down in the vicinity of the JKL keys and it should wedge the NVIDIA GPU into place. I took one of my tx2500z's completely apart and I'm in the process of selling the parts. I had the other one lying around because I hadn't gotten around to ripping it apart as well. I tried pressing down very hard and it worked. You must be pressing down before you flip the switch. This computer hadn't been working for about 7 months and I can finally recover some old files off of it. There is another video on youtube that describes how you can "burn" the NVIDIA chip into the motherboard. You will need more experience with computer, however. It can be seen here:

Best of luck!
(Still not going to buy an HP anytime soon!)

Well, now it's clear why HP didn't care about this failing product: I just read in my newspaper that they will stop the (tablet-)pc-production -sell the computerdivision and focus on large enterprise business .............and leave us with faulty tablets. Thanks for the business!

Hi Javos...
You are totally correct, we know now why HP was not interested in resolving anything...Sorry for the people who are buying their laptop now; they will get even less support in the future....
