Tx2500 Will not Start...

Hello all, Hoping for a suggestion of what to try for this problem.

The computer abruptly stopped starting up with the power button.

I can turn it on if I press the dvd or circular buttons on the LCD screen.  however the laptop fan comes on, the lights flash and hold save the caps lock and light above the end key.  They flash continuously.

I can turn the computer off by holding the power button on for 5-10 secs.

I have tried the remove battery, a/c power and wait path, but no solution there.

I pulled the hard drive and it worked in another tx2500.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

C

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

lot of people are having this problem. one thread i started someone said  remove battery remove power cable and hold the power on switch for 10 seconds. i havent tried it . but usually i start this by gently pressing on the back of screen below the screen open button while the lid is closed.

Its an inherently DEFECTIVE graphics card, you are not gonna have any kuck trying to get help from HP. sorry your laptop is destined to become a paperweight as mine now is after 14months of use!!! disgusting

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

If your lights flash continuously it may be a different error than most are experiencing, although the error might be different on your tx2500 than on my tx2000.. It surprisingly might be related to video drivers and their involvement with power management hibernation/sleep.  See my reply to this post for more information http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=Tablet&thread.id=451

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

Just had the the same thing happen to me.  So far I think it's one of the RAM chipsets.  I removed the top one and it started right up.  Try starting up with only one in there, if that doesn't work try switching it out.  When you find the broken one replace it.  Can someone else confirm that this works for them too; I don't want to spread bad info.

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

Same Exact Symptom - Didn't get anywhere with the suggestion to pull battery and unplug then hold power /on/off button for ten seconds.  Anyone else have luck?  or is this a symptom of the AMD ATI heat issue that this laptop is infamous for?  It requires a new / repaired motherboard.... fun 4 me.

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

tx2500z, purchased on 7/18/08. Tried all recommended methods from HP support and methods posted in youtube, no lucks!

Which really impacts my decision on recommendation of AIX or HPUX at work....

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

Found solution online somewhere when my Tx2510 would not start anymore. Couldn't beilve it worked. Wrap your computer up with towel or something and leave it on to get super hot (make sure to cover fan) and than after roughly 2 hours turn it off, wait like 10-30 seconds and turn it on.  This is only Temp fix.  I have to do it like once a month. Sucks.

Re: Tx2500 Will not Start...

Thanks ankosia!

That was the problem in my case. Luckily it was the 1g chip and not the 2g one. Now I just need to get a new one.
