Upgrade to Win7 now Touch Screen won't work!!

I recently had to send my TX2604ca in for a replacement of the fans. Shortly after it got back I upgraded to Win7 x64. Since the upgrade I cannot touch the screen anymore. The pen still works, so I know the hardware is fine, but no finger touch or gestures are recognized. I'm assuming this is a driver issue but I haven't found anything that points to updated (working) touch drivers for Win7.

Can anyone confirm that this is my problem? Or, preferably, suggest something that might fix the problem? I use the Touch features constantly. The pen, not so much.

Re: Upgrade to Win7 now Touch Screen won't work!!

Welcome to the team, Pelldom!

The last version of N-Trig DuoSense driver simple does not support the multitouch features. You can try using two fingers in MS Paint and see that it flows with many errors on detecting the fingers.

On the beta driver of N-Trig for Win7 RC much of the features of Multitouching still work, as well as a good 4 fingers recognition. When I upgrade to this version, it enables only the Win7 built-in gestures. I tried to install back the beta driver but the firmware does not go back...

I thing N-Trig has a big problem to not release the final version of full Multitouch driver for Win7, although the beta version I tried worked fine for me.

So, if you plan to upgrade to Win7 knows that your TouchSmart will become only a traditional Touchscreen notebook. No more Smart!

Re: Upgrade to Win7 now Touch Screen won't work!!

Actually, my tx didn't have multi-touch to begin with. This model was just before tx2's came out. Only had single touch ability, so the N-trig drivers wouldn't help anyway :smileyhappy:

The biggest problem that I'm having is that now that I've upgraded I have NO touch ability. Just pen functions. I'd be happy with "dumbTouch" at this point because now I'm running "NoTouch"!

And thanks for the welcome!

Re: Upgrade to Win7 now Touch Screen won't work!!

Read and follow this: http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=28392

that will fix 98% of the problem.

My problem is that now I have it functional but can't calibrate the touch. The "Touch Calibration" in the control panel simply doesn't work, it starts but doesn't recognize my touches. I've tried every version of the touch driver that I can make work and none of them will calibrate. I really need to calibrate; it's glaringly off for me and ruins the touch capability.

This is most definately a big problem.

Re: Upgrade to Win7 now Touch Screen won't work!!

Thanks! That did the trick! Though I didn't need to go through the whole process. I just uninstalled the Wacom Touch and Pen from the Device Manager. Then I did a restart. The Wacom Touch and Pen came back but now they all work! Odd, but it's working so I'm happy :smileyhappy:

Thanks!

Re: Upgrade to Win7 now Touch Screen won't work!!

Does your touch work properly? It's a little deceptive; on mine it 'works' but because of the way it's calibrated I can't touch anything that's within 1cm of the screen. It's so frustrating being able to startup the calibration app but it doesn't respond to my touches.
