I live in Canada and bought a tx1000 from Staples January 08.
I have had a number of problems with my HP TX1000 tablet computer. I bought this expensive computer to have the latest and greatest but ended up getting a pile of problems, the latest being that the wifi has stopped working. I took the computer back to Staples who while fixing it insisted I buy services where they set up a recovery disk and back up my data. This didn't fix the wifi problem so they told me the only option was to send it back to HP to repair in November 08.
About three months later Staples recieved my computer and everything worked.
I was very busy, travelling and didn't use the computer much at all. In May I noticed that the computer has developed the same problem again. The wifi has stopped working. The wifi card has disappeared from the Device Manager.
I have done some research and have found that this is a common problem with this model HP and it may be signs of a future motherboard failure.
How can a company like HP sell such a questionable product! All the threads that I have read also talk about how bad HP's customer service is and how they will only sell you a solution eg new motherboard for $600.
Please advise me if I am wrong, but currently I will not recommend HP product to anyone!

i also have that very same problem. I wasted so much money buying an expensive laptop. im really pissed off with this problem! is that the way how they make money? they make units that would not last a lifetime so they could charge you when you ask them to repair the problem. i will dicourage my friends to buy HP products. This gave me a lot of problems!!
HP please solve these issues!

I too am now experiencing this issue. One minute all was fine, the next, I apparently have no wifi hardware. NOT HAPPY!
This is a common problem that a lot of people are having: http://www.petitiononline.com/deadhptx/petition.ht
HP have even recalled other modles with the exact same motherbaord, and the exact same issue: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&
Why is HP not recalling / offering to repair / replace the tx line with this issue?

This issue is all over the internet and in every single forum for the TX1000 series. I also have been having this issue. HP should really address this issue soon since a couple of sites have mentioned "class action".

ok i too had this experience. i solved the problem by going into bios setup to enable the internal network again. this will be in the boot options or boot order.
i noticed while my computer was on , suddenly the network card was disabled. when i restarted it totally disappeared from my device manager. i didnt know how to fix it. i thought the card was burnt. today i was trying to install printer and saw this hp network assistant. it showed me that the switch was off. i moved the switch and it said it was on but device manager has the network wireless card disabled. but i couldn't find it in the device manager. so i clicked help and help listed possible reasons one of them was disabled in the bios. so i restarted and bios showed the internal network adapter with an ! exclamation mark on the left side of it and it was disabled. I enabled it andd saved and exited the bios and restarted the computer. the operating system said my startup is corrupted and trying to fix it. it tired to fix it but couldnt. but when the Os started my blue light was on which was orange all this while.
My guess about what caused this was , I remember once the windows update was picking up my hp bios updates and it didnt install properly and i restated the computer during that. then i manually downloaded and ran the bios from hp site. either the bios itself makes this change of disabling the wifi card or my bad restarts did it.
my advice dont run bios updates from windows update or if u run it just choose that alone from windows update and run and not along with others. this way u can give it max speed to download and install.
let me know how this goes. i will chekc this thread and help with ur questions
Thanks
VIVEK
P.s. I have a tablet tx1305 us
