I have been having problems with a disappearing built-in wifi adaptor (Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN in my HP dv2000 series laptop. I can sometimes go to the Device Manager and disable the adaptor, then enable it and it may re-appear but this doesn't always work as the adaptor doesn't appear in the list etc. I have rebooted and rebooted and sometimes this works but it can take several efforts to get back on wifi. My laptop was given a new mother board some years ago under the extended HP warranty. Using an external wifi adaptor doesn't work consistently either. I think I need to post this on another list as my laptop is not TX/TM!

Nvidia is replacing many of these laptops. Locate the Service Tag on bottom of laptop and check your model:
