Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

Hey, I have the same problem - dead wifi and then dead motherboard (black screen and sounding fan)...

As I'm reading through HP Support Forum, so many, many tx1000 series laptop experience the same problem and we don't see any actions taken by HP...

Lucky you, Wendy!!!

For the rest of us, are we out of luck completely??

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

I am still working with CTV News towards a follow up story about the HP tx1000. I do not plan on letting the issue rest until I get the answer I am looking for from HP, a recall/replacement/reimbursement for all tx1000 users alike. It's a battle, but I'm part way there, so hold in there if you can.
My case number with HP is: 7501223470. It is a valid case number, maybe it is not accessable to HP US Customer Service ... I am in Canada and it is a canadian case number. Regardless, here is contact info again for all who are asking for it again:

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

My TX1000 just started doing the same thing 2 weeks ago.  All I get is the black screen of death when I turn it on.  It just would not boot no matter how many times I turn it on and off.  The lights & fan come on but the screen stays black.   I use to recommend HP to a lot of people but after this experience and reading about this particular problem and how HP is responding I AM NEVER EVER EVER GOING TO RECOMMEND "HP" TO ANYONE OR BUY HP PRODUCTS.

This is very annoying because you pay so much for the TX series and fall in love with it and shortly after it packs up due to manufacuturer problem.  And sadly enough consumers have to deal with that.

This would not be acceptable and HP should not think they would get away with this because I am also going to do whatever I can to make sure they fix this.  IT IS HP's FAULT, NOT THE CONSUMERS FAULT.  They might think they getting away by ignoring but not for too long.  THIS IS AMERICA AND JUSTICE WOULD BE DONE!!!!!!!!

HP SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND KNOW ADMIT THAT THEY MADE A MISTAKE WITH THE TX Series Laptops.

I freaking need my computer to work and not keep having problems due to manufacturer defects.

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

I also had a pleasure of owning TX 1000 it was a lot of fun when it worked. It is dying on me now. I was an HP fun( my first HP was a calculator many years back)  I currently have two HP computers. I wanted to get the large all in one touch screen but after what is going on with TX1000 I probably will not be looking at HP any more. That is a pity nice ideas irresponsible company.  Everybody can make mistake but what shows how good the company is, is what is done after.

Would there be no recall on HP part there is no reason to even consider HP.

This is a design flaw almost everybody who purchased them will have these problems and at some point the number of unsatisfied customers will be large.  The more of us will give up HP the less they will sell and one day maybe they will notice.

I got all my HP products in Canada.

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

I bought my HP tx1000 in 09/2007 at hp.com

I used wired LAN until 09/2008 because I never took the laptop out of home.

In 12/2009, Wireless died. In 03/2010, motherboard is fried.

I wonder what is up with the design that cost this.

Been through HP chat, not helpful.

Went to case manager, no help. It's 500+ days out of warranty. Flawed design and everything. A waste of my $1000.

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

I wouldn't give up that easily, even if the unit is out of warranty. There was a program on CTV  addressing the issue, and when I mentioned several other issues on this thread to the escalations manager, they quickly had my unit repaired. I had bought is second hand from a guy through Kijiji, who had similar issues as everyone here. I was very honest with the case manager and he had my unit repaired and sent back to me in less than 5 days.  It seems that the unit heats up so much that it melts the glue holding the components together inside. Thats why the wireless card/video starts to fail. I manager at a South American HP site admitted that there was a problem with the design, but that HP refuses to address it because of $.

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

Great to hear aulich, I'm glad my CTV News story helped you! If more people would use the CTV newsclip to aid in their repair/replacement endeavor then maybe HP will finally recall the unit. I think that our CTV follow-up story is close now, I was just talking with Paul Brent again today and we will work something out surely. I'll keep you all posted. --- WebFX

Re: tx1000 Series Laptop Failure - PLEASE READ

It will be interesting to hear about the followup. Even though the repair was made in a timely manner, my unit is already displaying major problems after a month. A replacement or recall would definitely be the way to go!
