i have no wireless connection and when i did a system recovery--- it worked for about a week and then it stopped

i took it to a computer repair shop and ask them to fix it, they told me that there are problems to my AMD and nvidia

they told me that there is nothing that i can do and except for sending my labtop into hp or buy a wireless usb?

is that true?

Re: tx1000

I have the same problem as you are. Currently the Notebook is going to HP service center. I have seen lot of the same symptom complain on forums out there. I have decide to buy a new notebook and will never buy a HP notebook forever. Bad service and bad product with no defect warranty. So bad.

Re: tx1000

We need to rent NOTEBOOKS AT OUR EXPERTISE URGENT! I had a letter from the Society of Consumer Protection.

"Hello, the value of expertise to the development of a laptop expert opinion, amounts to 6 500 rub. if in your favor (ie, manufacturing defect), if not in your favor (ie, not manufacturing defect), 500 rubles. without the expert opinion."

Same problem here. It began when my wireless adapter went out 6 months ago.  Soon after I had problems getting my computer out of hibernation (I had to turn it off and reboot) and finally nothing, the lights came on with only a black screen.  Sadly, I paid $430 for the repair.  I got my computer back today and it appears that they replaced the motherboard, keyboard(for some reason) and re-imaged the hard drive (whatever that means).  I emailed the CEO and received a call from a very arrogant case manager.  He informed me that the complaints on this computer are very few in comparison with the units that were sold and that the NVidia chip was not a recall for my computer. Since my computer was out of warranty HP could do nothing for me, sorry.  I am not happy with this answer.  <text deleted> His response was "do what you have to do".  So I guess I will.  For now, my computer has a 3 month warranty but, I do have an option to give HP more money and purchase an additional extended warranty.  I am very disappointed with HP's customer service and will NEVER EVER buy another HP product.

Re: tx1000

I completely agree.  I AM NEVER BUYING ANY PRODUCTS FROM HP EVER AGAIN!!!

I only had this notebook for less than 2 years.  First my wifi went bad, after doing a system recovery it worked again for about a couple of days then stopped working.  Recently, it's just dead.  There's full power when it's turned on but the screen is black.  After 10+ try of power cycling, it turned on again but only stayed up for a minute and the screen went black again.   I had phone support w/ HP but apparently it turned out to be the biggest frustration that I ever had.  You can escalate to the highest of the management team and they absolutely would not do anything for you.  They told me that I had a year to report these problems to them b/c the warranty is only for a year... I took it to 3 different local repair stores and as soon as I showed them my notebook, they could already tell me what the problem is... that is b/c everyone who owns this model has this same problem!!

Re: tx1000

Everyone who owns this model has this same problem? You don't say! First off, tx1000 is a model series, not a model. I have the model tx1410us model which is part of the same tx1000 series and have had none of the problems you are talking about. The only one I could detect so far is that the built-in bluetooth stopped discovering my MS Bluetooth Notebook 5000 mouse recently but I suspect that may be more due to some recent Vista update than hardware issues. Vista was also responsible for a recent problem with the built-in webcam and fingerprint reader which I fixed by removing the bad USB driver that Vista installed. I suspect many of the overheating issues reported are more due to the notebook being used on one's laptop (thus blocking vital air vents on the bottom part of the notebook) than real hardware issues.

My "model" TX1320 has just suffered from the black screen of death. Powers on with lights but no display. It is only 18 months old if that. The majority of its life was spent perched on top of an Antec dual fan cooler plate that is larger than the foot print of the TX it self. PLENTY of cool air flow to the base!! So dont assume that the overheating issue is due to people placing their pc upon their lap. You also did not state how old your tx1410 is. There seems to be a common time of death related to the posted failures of the TX 1000 "series". If yours is older than 18 months and still going strong, thats awesome!! Good for you! But have some sympathy for those of us who shelled out close to $1k or more, (in my case$2k, one for me and one for the wife), for a device that is now useless and not even two years old! If you snoop around the forums enough, you will see that there are many people with issues with this "series" of HP pc's.

Maybe the goverment can start a cash for clunkers program for the TX "series" lol. Just kidding!

Best of luck to all those with TX "series" fatalities. Maybe HP will pull through for us after all.

Re: tx1000

Oh come now, racrx! I did not write that HP had no problems with the tx1000 series notebooks. I only took an issue with your categoric statement that all of them had a problem by indicating that mine worked (mostly) fine. And yes, it is also exactly 18 months old as I purchased it in Feb of last year. I must say though that I haven't been using it that much as my main PC work horse is my older XP desktop. I also did not claim that you personally used your notebook literally on your laptop, just suggested that many of those reported overheating issues might be caused by that. Let's face it, we've all seen people using their laptops just that way: on their laps. Also, just because you read many complaints on forums like this does not necessarily mean a high failure rate. After all, people having no problems usually don't show up here. So there is no way to know what percentage of these notebooks out there have problems similar to yours. I wish HP tech support people were more actively participating here, so it does not strike them as a surprise when somebody emails them with problem that was already solved here. Recently I've exchanged umpteen emails with HP's email support in India (I'm pretty sure that's where they were) and got to nowhere with them. Finally I found the solution here from one of the members who stumbled upon it and then published the solution. Eventually I passed that solution to the HP email support so they know what to do when next time someone writes them about the same problem.

Re: tx1000

They made a diagnosis ... No dust there! Laptop overheating, video card died. Change the entire motherboard. Employment costs 2000 rubles, motherboard 12800 rubles. I'm angry. Now this problem is solved between my company and HP. Let еруь **bleep** bricksю
