tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

I have installed Win7 Ultimate on my tx2-1370us (full / reformat) and re-installed most of the software, but... while the QLB seems to be functioning the Control Panel app doesn't appear to have been installed and I can't find a way to change the assignment of the buttons...

any suggestions?

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

I have the same problem, seems like things are missing in the Win 7 Drivers. I tried reinstalling the Quick Launch drivers tonight from the latests and nothing.

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

no luck so far... can't even find anything obvious to edit (surely that can't have hardcoded this stuff?)

Also trying to find a way to get the rotate button to only do the first rotation (90% anti clockwise) and then toggle back to normal (having to go through the upside down and wrong way round positions to get back to normal is driving me mad)

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

I have very nearly the exact same issue on mine.  Installed Ultimate, clean install with full hdd format.  Downloaded the driver for quick launch but I'm not able to adjust them from the control panel which states that tablet buttons are not installed on this pc.  Similar issue when trying to enable fingerprint reader.

I'm on the phone with customer support who suggests that I nuke the hdd and reinstall win home premium which came with this machine.  Which doesn't make much sense.

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

You need to call support back and escalate it, they have published the drivers, they should support them.

Thing is, I saw this in Vista too. At some point the button software lost this. I have only been able to get it back by doing a restore from the HP image.

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

[ Edited ]

I assuming by QLB you mean the 3 buttons on the montior (mine are windows moble center, hp media, and screen rotate) If you are id kill for these drivers I installed win7 from scratch as my upgrade has yet to arrive and everything worked great expect those 3 buttons. Without rotate tho my tablet is useless so I had to reinstall vista from a recovery disc (which was hell had to use my win7 disc to keep formating my drive but it finally worked) I was going to try and load the wim images with imagex and see if I couldnt find the driver but I dont even know the name of the program I'm looking for.

Anyways this is the one thing keeping me from upgrading to win7 id really like a fix for this becuase If id known I was going to be stuck on vista id probably never have bought it :/

also I can't find a quick launch button applet in control panel.

Anyone be kind enough to tell me the path? Thnx in advance

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

The button software for 64bit Win7 on the TX1020US is here

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-78031-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3860689&os=4063&lang=en

I have this installed and the mobility center and rotate work. I dont have any media smart software so the middle button does nothing and there is no control pannle aplet.

So at 50$% functionality, it is better than running Vista again, but nothing like it did new.

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

latest update in the saga of my emails back and forth with support is that we apparently can't change this.

given that it's either just a registry hack or create a dummy program with the right name that gets called it can't be rocket science but for reasons best known to themselves HP don't care (after all, they've got their $ from selling a PC, helping us get the most out of it rather than locking us into their media app probably isn't in their interest)

it's not a matter of life of death but it's annoying.... and that influences my recommendations to other potential buyers.

Re: tx2 - Customize Quick Launch buttons

I found this post trying to get my ql buttons to work properly. I also cannot find any evidence of them in control panel. I did, however, find tablet pc settings. It has a button tab, not that it makes any sense. I have no idea what  @BttnCmm,DLL, -9 means.

And another clue - on the first tab called display, there is a setup option which allows me to identify which screen I want for pen or touch input. Only 1 display available, which makes sense - 1. Mobile PC display. However, regardless which input method I choose, the following "display" is unresonsive to the required touch.

Conslusion, something is seriously misconfigured with the quick buttons on the screen edge.

Hope this gives you a clue - or someone working at HP a clue.

I am more than frustrated because my problem is that when I press the screen orientation button or rotate the screen, the screen goes blank. Tablet? What tablet? I don't see no stinkin tablet.
