product_name : HP Pavilion tx2000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC
part_number : GU199AV
- Windows 7 (but all these problems were the same for Vista)
- BIOS F.08 (I also have tried F.04, F.06)
usb ports don't work.
USB ports are in device dirver:
- Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller
- Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
- USB Root Hub
- USB Root Hub
But OS doesn't see plugged in USB devices.
An optical mouse shines red light when plugged into each of the three USB ports. This is hopeful as when I started working on this the optical mouse wouldn't light up.
The wacom digitizer (aka penabled) nor the touchscreen work.
The Wacom driver installs OK, but opening the "Tablet Properties" ontrol panel opens a message box: "A supported tablet was not found on the system."
The webcam doesn't work nor show up in Device Manager: not as a cam, not as unknown nor anything else hen Cyber Youcam is installed install opens message box, "no ebcam device found," and quits.
Some of these problems might be because the previous owner opened the computer up: e.g. the bluetooth module was missing. 've opened the case and checked all cables are properly and securely connected.
Other fixes I've read about but don't work for me:
I don't have a Cypress Driver for the USBs so I don't think I have the "roll back USB driver to HX2LP problem.
I've heard F.09 BIOS may be helpful, but I do not see it available on the HP.com support sites:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os
This same Support / downloads HP page does not have the Recovery Kits listed either.
I figure if I can get the USB ports working I'll be good t to go.

I'm having the exact same problem. Usb ports, digitizer and webcam are all not working.
Vista, BIOS F.08, no cypress drivers.
I'm wondering if you ever figured it out, or if anyone else knows whats going on.

The digitizer, webcam, and the touchscreen itself all use USB to communicate with the computer. Since the USB ports also don't work, I think that the USB Bus may have failed.

I also have the same problem. It seems to have occured about the time I had a failed printer install (HP 7550).
Have installed latest Bios and checked for any software updates. Have deleted the USB items in Device Manager. I checked and seem to have the latest "standard openHCD USB Host Controller". USB says it is working. When you insert a device, it gets power for a couple of seconds and then nothing.
I am having a hard time believing that this is a hardware issue, since I see the same occurance in other forums, but no solutions.
This is a huge problem for me and the others with the same problem.

Until I resolve this issue, I am thinking about buying a docking station (KN744A). If that is a different "circuit", it will give me USB capability.
Can anyone verify that the docking station will be a workaround the loss of USB/digitize???
Right now I am dead in the water. Can't use aircard, or backup the data. I use this computer for trips, as it is easy to read old email digests when you are on a plane.
Like others, I have had to replace the motherboard. I really like to format of the computer, but other than that, it is a piece of crap.
Would sure appreciate any help

The Saga continues. For what it is worth, the computer is a TX2110US.
I ordered SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Express Card for this unit. I was a bit frustrated in that this card requires a power cord be connected to a USB port for power.
When I first fired the express card, I used a USB port from a different computer to supply the power. Everthing worked will, so it will be easier for me to get my data off the disc. (When the unit had the black screen failure, I pulled the hard drive and installed it in an adapter to get my data back).
Then I put the power cord into the TX2110 and it powered the express card just fine.
So, the USB port is live - at least for power.
I am a novice at this, but I think that suggests that the issue might be the driver for the USB/Webcam/digitizer.
Can anyone tell me where I can get that driver for the USB/digitizer/webcam?
When I do the check, it says that the latest software is loaded and working. The HP site does not seem to have a driver to download.
Sure hope someone can help me get this resolved.
Thanks, Jim

Well, I thought I would bump this up the list a bit, but I really don't have much hope that I will get much help.
My wife's Toshiba has a bit of an issue, and the equivalent forum has knowledgible folks (appears to be some factory folks) who are eager to help. Toshiba quickly provided an BIOS update to resolve the issue.
This forum has lots of defined issues, but no support.
Any other place I can try to get some help?
Part of me says why bother on the piece of {Content Removed: Language Filter Evasion}? Sad thing is that I love the format and it is great to use on a plane.
As many have said, I will never buy another HP product. They simply do not care about their customers.

Time to bump this to the first page.
Can't believe that there is no support for the many issues on this computer.

I also have the exact same problem, my right side usb does not work as well.
It would be extremely helpful if someone that DOES NOT have this problem would share their device mgr settings so I can see what is missing. or the settings.
Mine started after a hard drive crash, replaced ordered recovery CD's and now nothing from digitizer, cam and fingerprint reader. I am not so sure they are USB devices.
