Brightness Keeps Resetting

Whenever the display on this thing (Touchsmart 300-1020) goes to sleep the brightness gets reset back to 100%. So far, I've tried editing the default brightness in Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Power Options, but every time I edit my power plans to have a lower brightness, everything I change gets reset whenever the computer goes to sleep, e.g. I go into Power Options, go to Change Plan Settings in one of the plans, lower the brightness, put the computer to sleep, wake it back up and it goes all the way back to stare-at-the-sun brightness.

Any help would be appreciated.

how are you adjusting the brightness? you should be using the NVIDIA Control Panel to male the settings perm...

Right click on your desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel and then under the Display section choose "Adjust desktop color settings".

Also - have you changed the settings and shut sown the system and then reboot ? can you say if the problem continues after you do that - and then bring back the system from sleep mode ?

I just bought 300-1028d and also gets the same problem (OS: win7 64-bit).

I have followed the steps on this web and set all power plans with brightness 30%:

The results are:

- Everytime reboot, the brightness always jumps to 100%

- Everytime shutdown and power-up, the brightness always jumps to 100%

- Everytime sleep and wake-up, the brightness always jumps to 100%

Please help to resolve this bug!

Same exact problem with a 300-1020, Windows 7 64bit.

Click on power options....

Click on " Change settings plan ".....

Adjust the brightness and save the plan..... And exit...

that should work....

If it were working I don't think this post would be up.  The problem is the brightness settings are not being saved.

I recently purchased a Touchsmart 300-1025 and I have this same issue.  It seems to me that the fix will have to come from an HP update as it should be a simple process to change and save the brightness.  Even if I create and save a completely new power profile with a less than 100% brightness setting when I turn off the computer or even put it to sleep it will reset to 100% when awakened or powered back on.
