It worked yesterday
Yesterday I had ot reinstall the imaging software to go with my Hp Photosmart C6180 printer / scanner / thingy
Today it wouldn't work
The "USB 2.0 Webcam" driver is gone.... all that is left is the driver for the DVD
Went to Device manager
*poof*
Gone! Not even a category for imaging devices
Went to add hardware
Nope... couldn't detect it...
told it to find driver on disk
Nope... couldn't find it
Went to recovery manager
"HP Quick-Play / DVD Play" was not an option (someone on Yahoo! Answers suggested)
No such beast.
I don't have a day to waste re-installing Vista
isn't there anywhere I can grab the USB 2.0 webcam driver??

Please post rather than send me a Message. It's good for the community and I might not be able to get back quickly. - Thank you.

Yes, no luck... went back in time to 2 different points.
Also deleted all of the drivers (and Hub drivers) in the whole USB section.
still no "USB 2.0 Camera" and can't get rid of the Hauppaugge WinTV 418 Video Capture driver which shows up in the drop down for Skype and MS Communicator, but does not show up in the Scanner and Camera wizard.

This worked for me,go to device manager and expand "universal serial bus controllers" if you see a driver called "Sonix T50500 WEBCAM" (or somethiong like that,I can't remember what it was called exactly) right click on it and select "update driver software" then select "browse my computer for driver software" then select "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" then select the "USB Composite Device" and click next.I hope this helps.

For the IQ700 series
If you're running Windows Vista SP2, there is a patch for USB patch for NVIDIA chipsets
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975163/
If you're running Windows 7, install this patch

Hi,
I have also recently had a problem with Webcam on dv2000.
In the Device Manager, the Imaging Devices list no longer appears. There is no sign of the webcam anywhere. I cannot open it with windows messenger, skype or quickplay.
Previous to this, I last used the Webcam about 1 week ago (End of Feb'11).

I was having the same problem as everyone else, and getting majorly pissed about it, but when i tried out your steps it worked! I was worried i'd have to take it to Best Buy or something, but thank god you posted the comment. So thanks you!
