CD/DVD drive does now show in device mgr

Shows in BIO.  I can hear it running but will not show up on the screen when a CD is installed.  It also does not show up in Windows Explorer.  I tried to shut the computer down and restart but that does not solve the problem.  I do not want to start messing with cables.
