Can I replace a Touchsmart 320 with a 100TDP CPU such as the A8-3850?

Hello guys, I'm looking for a replacement CPU for my Touchsmart 320 and A8-3800 are not availabe where I reside yet, so I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade it with a A8-3850 CPU, which has a TDP of 100w....

If anyone knows please help me, I don't want to burn my PC.

Thanks in advance!!

I took am curious. I have the exact same question, to wit:

  1. I have a Touchsmart 320-1030 with the A4-3400 chip currently installed. That's a 65W chip.
  2. The specifications page states that (at least theoretically) I can upgrade the CPU to a 100W A8-3850 chip.
  3. However, the exact same specifications page states that the existing TDP is 65W.

I noticed no one bothered to answer the question when originally posed by AntopbCL back on February 2012, but I'll ask again:

I don't want to burn my PC. Can someone PLEASE give me and AntopbCL a straight answer?

The motheboard specs state that the system has a 65 watt TDP. If you try to install a 100 watt CPU, the system will most likely not boot and/or give you an error code.

********** UPDATE *********

HP has updated the specs to reflect the TDP of the CPUs listed in the "supported CPU chart"

Then why is HP lying and saying I can install the 100W A8-3850?

Exactly,  why is HP lying and saying I can install the 100W A8-3850? uh?

Is there an answer for HP's lie? Anyone? HP staff/employees? Would referring this to the Better Business Bureau as a fraud complaint get someone off the stick?

Still no answer for HP's lie? Why is HP trying to hide the truth about its products?

Hello there,

Since you have asked me to look into your post, I am now here providing you with an answer.

I was checking your question on this topic and have read the full story, so I went on check what CPU upgrades does your motherboard support. I did check that the TDP is stated at 65W and the CPU upgrade table lists 2 CPU with a 100W TDP.

I understand your confusion, so I will investigate this for you and will return with a reply.

Please wait for an answer from me, I will update you whenever I confirm this to you, ok?

Thanks,
