Alright, so I got this computer for Christmas. It was fine for a little bit, but now, whenever I open a predominantly light-colored window, my screen gets sort of pink and fuzzy, and often hard to read. It's not my monitor, because when I use the browser through that Touchsmart app, it's fine, although I can only have one window open. But if I open a predominantly black or dark colored website, such as creepypasta.com or blackle, I don't have this problem. The fact that this only happens when I'm not in that HP browser leads me to believe it's some setting.
What can I do?

I did that last night, worked for about an hour, then went back to how it was before.

CoffinDancer,
I've read and reread your first post and I'm not so convinced that it's only a software issue. I had a TouchSmart IQ504 that had similar visual anomalies and it ended up needing to be shipped back for repairs. You say that any white screen will cause the strange visual effects? A simple open folder or MSPaint screen filled with white will cause it? The fact that SmartCenter's browser is fine doesn't seem to prove to me that it's only software. Since SmartCenter's browser is surrounded by black that might in some way effect the issue and cause the problem to temporarily disappear. You could use Vista's built-in hard drive imaging feature to backup up your hard drive to an external source and then reinstall the HP factory image just to see if that fixes it. If so, then you were right about it being a software issue. Of course, you'll then have to restore the image which will return the problem (if it's software related) but at least the culprit will be narrowed down.
I'm still suspicious that it's a hardware problem. Call up HP support while you still have the 1 year warranty and see if they'll take it back for repairs. Make sure to back up the computer before you ship it off. I always prefer to back it up and then reimage it to the factory default operating system so that no personal data is left behind.
