Hello,
The problem could be related to the video card.
Please try to download this driver version and install it in your PC, and let me know the result.

THanks,

Thanks SomelOguh,
I installed the new driver you suggested but unfortunately the problem remains.
Small coloured squares (about 1 mm x 1 mm) keep jumping up very rapidly then disappearing again. They seem to be the light blue cyan colour on the white spaces and red colour on the darker parts of the screen. The colours may be the component colours making up the screen - like the three components of printer inks - but no yellow - only red and blue colours.
They seem to appear more frequently as the screen colour changes. My computer keeps going OK when on Excel or Word which mainly is a white background with black text. But going on the internet with changing pictures, or if I look at my photos, the colours splash around all over the screen. Sometimes they appear just inside a part of the screen like within a picture on an internet page. A few times without warning the whole computer stops.
People I talk to in HP shops suggest the colour graphics card needs replacing. I guess my only solution is to take it back to HP in Kuala Lumpur to get fixed under warranty. A nuisance as I have to take a flight there to do so.
Thanks for taking the trouble to suggest your solution.

Hello,
Have you fixed your problem already?
If not, try to update the system BIOS as well.

If the BIOS does not help, if you try to boot into safe mode, do you still have the same issue?
I was thinking in telling you to try to remove the video driver and select the check box to ensure the sw is deleted to force the system to install the VGA driver to see what happens.
Let me know what is your current situation and if you can do this.
Thanks,

Thanks for your suggestions.
In the end I sent the computer back to the store I purchased from in KL and they replaced the video card under warranty.
