Hi,
Just got this GREAT HP TouchSmart IQ508d PC and it looks great with the touch screen and how compact this 22" is. I do have a problem with application software on Vista Home Premium 64. The most use applicaiton is Sony Picture Motion Browser which is a Photo/Video browser that display sorted in a Calander format by months. Great for everyday useage. I had this running beautifully on my other HP Pavilion Slimeline with Vista Home Premium 32 connected to my LCD monitor. But I just cannot get it running properly with on 64Bit. Is it possible for us to downgrade to 32bit of Vista Home Premium as this is one of the applicaition that we run everyday.
Regards
Andy Ng

If you can install and open your Sony software without errors it is probably a matter of having enough memory and space available. You'll need 64-bit to run all the pretty TouchSmart software. I do not recommend going to 32-bit if you can help it.
Video editing software takes up serious resources. Try the following things to see if things get a lot better:
From the TouchSmart main window tap Personalize, TouchSmart Settings, deselect Quick Launch and Auto-Start, and click OK.
Close TouchSmart.
The TouchSmart software will take longer to open but much more memory will be free for other applications.
Close HP Total Care Advisor - really close it by right-clicking the small icon in the system tray and selecting Exit. TCA is a great tool but it does not need to be open all the time. Just open it when you want to see how your PC is doing and to check for updates.
With just these two applications closed, you should have a lot more memory free to process video.
You can also use the tips in this document to help free up system resources - just don't use the portion about turning off Windows Aero as that too is required to run the TouchSmart software: Increasing System Performance Without Adding Memory in Windows Vista .
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Please post rather than send me a Message. It's good for the community and I might not be able to get back quickly. - Thank you.

Hello, when you say that the 32 bit have the pretty touchscreen features, do you mean that the touchscreen wont function at all with the 32 bit vista? Also there are no drivers at all for 32 bit vista on hps website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to setup SiteKiosk and the developers say that they wont have 64 but support for a few months and we have to deliver much earlier than that. The registry is all different and the site kiosk software does not function correctly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Vince
