How to adjust Horizontal/Vertical display of Touch Smart screen

Hi Group,

I recently purchased the IQ505 and have fallen in love with it. However, (a small thing) the monitor displays my PowerPoint slides slightly "taller" than they should be (stretched vertically) . Most monitors I have used in the past have, either a physical adjust, or a software adjust. I can't find either on this one. Sure hope it can be adjusted. Thanks.

check to see if your native display settings are configured properly by right click on disktop and select properties, then click the display settings - should be set to 1680 by 1050 pixels, colors highest 32bit...

Re: How to adjust Horizontal/Vertical display of Touch Smart screen

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the extremely quick assistance response.

Yes, I checked that after you mentioned it and it is set to 1680x1050 @ 60Hz. Can I assume that there is no software or hardware adjustment?

Again, thanks for your response.

Unfortunetly I don't have powerpoint installed on mine to check and see what it looks like in fullscreen, does this happen for any other applications?

Try the NVIDIA Control panel, under Display, highlight the Change Flat Panel Scaling.  There a couple of options there you can use, seems the best fit is to use the the first option "Use NVIDIA Scaling", you might be using the "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio" which stretches virtically.

Re: How to adjust Horizontal/Vertical display of Touch Smart screen

Hi Jim,

I hate to take up all of your time on this piddly little (possibly non-) problem. I will try out your suggestion when I figure out how to access the video card. However, I have the setup (right-click) "graphic properties" - "Display Settings" - "Aspect Ratio" set to "maintain aspect ratio", assuming that was the correct setting. I don't recall whether the initial setting was at "full-screen" or "centered", the other options. In any case I'll check it out. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Re: How to adjust Horizontal/Vertical display of Touch Smart screen

If you are using a widescreen presentation method to display you slides, you can adjust the page setup proerties ...16" x 9". If they still look "thin" then, yeh - has something to do with the way PowerPoint is utilizing the native display resolution of TouchSmart. This is the first I've heard of it.

Re: How to adjust Horizontal/Vertical display of Touch Smart screen

Hi RasterBlaster,

Thanks for your input. I have not set anything to display as "widescreen" so I have not been able to set anything to 16"x9" and I have been unable to find any way in PowerPoint to set the screen size. Since this is onlly noticable on portraits, and no one has mentioned that the portraits are out of wack (since the portraits were placed using a different computer earlier), as long as I don't try to resize the portraits, I shouldn't have any problem. I haven't checked Photoshop yet though. In any case, thank you for responding and I appreciate your input. I am extremely pleased with the system, although I wish HP had installed a faster computer chip. That would make a definite difference.
