Firstly you need Touchsmart (TS) 3.0 User Interface (UI) installed, I don't think it runs on TS 2.0 UI and you need to be running Windows 7.
Do a search in the drivers and download for "Touchsmart 600-1055", then either from the Windows 7 64bit or 32 bit drivers download, you'll find an update for recipe box or ftp copy ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL30723/p
1. Download and save a copy of sp44419.exe to your local disk, I'll assume you have copied it to your C:\TEMP folder.
2. Install winrar (search google for winrar download) once you have installed winrar go to step 3.
3. Right click on "Start" and select "Open Windows Explorer"
4. In file explorer navigate to C:\TEMP and right click the file sp44419.exe then select "extract to sp44419\"

5. In file explorer navigate to "C:\TEMP\sp44419\src" and right click HPTSRB.exe then select "extract to HPTSRB\".
6. copy C:\TEMP\sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\DefaultAppSettin
7. In file explorer navigate to "C:\TEMP\sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\src\" and double click on RecipeBoxSetup.msi
8. Check to see if the following files installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\TouchSmart\RecipeBox" folder
30/09/2009 03:50 PM 154,680 BTUtil.dll
30/09/2009 03:50 PM 20,068,920 RecipeBox.exe
17/11/2009 07:24 PM 445 RecipeBox.exe.config
08/07/2009 06:04 PM 49,148 RecipeIcon.png
30/09/2009 03:51 PM 11,832 SpeechTraining.exe
9. Using file explorer, double click on "C:\TEMP\sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\AutoGateway.reg", a warning message will popup, click on "Yes" and continue.
10. Using file explorer, double click on "C:\TEMP\sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\Headset.reg", a warning message will popup, click on "Yes" and continue.
11. You now need to register the recipe box app so that you can see it in TS 3.0 UI using the command RegisterSmartCenterApp.exe...
Using file explorer, navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\TouchSmart\SmartCenter 2.0" and hold "Shift" key and right click in empty area of the right hand window pane of File explorer and select "Open command prompt here".

Then enter the following command in the command prompt...
RegisterSmartCenterApp updateconfig C:\HP\TS\DefaultAppSettings\Bottom\RecipeBox_ebde7
For example, here I entered the command and can see that the registration was successful..

12. Create "C:\ProgramData\TouchsmartData\Recipes\Images" folder and copy jpg files for your categories...
mkdir C:\ProgramData\TouchsmartData\Recipes\Images
Then copy some jpg files for your categories to "C:\ProgramData\TouchsmartData\Recipes\Images"... By doing this you will be able to populate your Categories and add new recipes and then save them..
13. Start touchsmart and you should see it as a small tile last on the right.
14. Come back to this post and click the star on the left and give me kudos~!
[edited to correct missing "s" in Step 12]

Thanks for all your help JimT....but, I got as far as entering the command into the command prompt, but it will not register, popup window says - RegisterSmartcenter App has stopped working...blah blah blah...close program
When I close, in the command prompt window it states the following:
Unhandled Exception
ystem.NullReferenceException: object reference not set to an instanceof an object.
at RegisterSmartcenterApp.Program.DoesAppSettingAlrea
at RegisterSmartCenterApp.Program.Main<String[ ] args>
Any ideas???
Appreciate any help you can give (wife will love you(and me again) if I can get this to work) ![]()

not really sure about that, although you can copy the xml file manually to have them registered in smartcenter, but that doesn't sound too good.
To copy the xml to have it registered, you can copy it to this folder, but in general you should use registersmartcenterapp command when it should work for you...
"C:\ProgramData\Hewlett-Packard\TouchSmart\SmartCe

JimT:
Recipe in the pathway in Step 12 above needs to be Recipes (plural) in order for the TS Recipe Box program to find and use the jpg image files for Categories.
